I'm going to chime in and say that I hope the winner of the "S" story is NOT Spare Parts. I mean, we've all heard it, we've all talked about it. What else is there to say? You could say that argument for all of the releases you have in your back catalogue. I'm not sure that there'll be a great deal of people buying releases if they're picked and aren't previously owned, so by that nature you're not going to get a lot more discussion. However, you may get people revisiting after a number of years and may have their opinions completely altered. I went with The Sky Man personally, as I've not heard that since the early days of The War Master range. Looking forward to relistening as it was the first go in what is now very much a tried and tested formula. Sins of the Flesh is my favourite of the list, but I felt it was very much reliant on the previous stories and it's fresh in my mind given it came out relatively recently. Lots of factors at play, but that's what makes it an interesting undertaking!

My pick for S was the Siege of Big Ben. I remember really enjoying it back when I first got into the Short trips, but don't remember it too well. On the one hand, I'm sad it's not a contender; on the other hand, I'm glad two other people also liked it enough to vote for it.
As for Spare Parts... I mean, agree that it's perhaps... over-discussed, but at the same time I think there are benefits to relistening -- there are all sorts of little details that stick out a lot more on repeats than we tend to notice on first-times.

Only two days left, folks! We've got three ties, so we'll (probably) need to do another round of voting next month, but maybe on a longer deadline, since there (probably) won't be a rush.
EDIT: Just to be clear, there is no hard deadline. Whenever I get around to it on 1. September, I'll lock down the survey, post the results here, and set up the tie-breaker/bonus slots survey. In other words, no need to worry about time zones.

I'll still be leaving the survey open for the rest of the day, but for now I am declaring Asking For A Friend the presumptive winner of the A-slot -- so that folks have at least half of this weekend to get a head-start. We'll plan on starting our discussions on the listed Discussion Dates, so I look forward to talking to y'all about Benny next week!
Please refer to the (newly-edited) opening post for further details (including links to the relevant discussion threads, wiki pages, and store listings). I'll finish editing that post tomorrow, just in case we get any more voters.

It would be helpful for stories that are part of a box set if you included the name of the box set. I have the boxset but took me a bit of searching to find it by story name.
Also wondering: For stories that are part of a box set, are you starting a new thread for the discussion? Usually stories that were part of a boxset have been discussed within the overall thread for the whole box set.

Also wondering: For stories that are part of a box set, are you starting a new thread for the discussion? Usually stories that were part of a boxset have been discussed within the overall thread for the whole box set. Gotcha. I'll include index tag in parenthesis (EG Asking For A Friend would be NABS 04.02). The BF link will also take you to the boxset page, though. As for stories that are part of sets... I hadn't thought that far yet. I'll defer to your judgement: do you want new threads? I should point out that we already have several threads for individual stories in addition to boxset threads, however -- including one for our first story, Asking For A Friend, which is linked-to in the first post. Personally, I'm torn. Ideally, I'd say the best option would be individual threads for each individual story, to be merged into the boxset thread later (like maybe after two weeks?); as well as for the existing single-story threads to be rolled into the boxset threads. But, you know me, I like for things to be well-organized. And Big Finish's own actions are somewhat contrary to that goal, given that they sometimes gather up individual stories into boxsets later on, or sell stories both individually and in boxset form from the beginning. They are nothing if not inconsistent. But ultimately I'm not a moderator and that would just be off-loading extra work onto y'all, which I don't really want to do. So, ultimately, I'll simply defer to whatever you think best. Anyway, Imma lock the survey now, write up the results (which will be added to the 2nd post) and get the tiebreaker survey I up. I think we have 3 ties.

I actually think this is a good way to handle it.

All right... the first two posts have been edited, so we're all set until next week! I've also set up the GoogleForm for the final round of voting, so please remember to vote ASAP! I'd love it if we could get everyone who voted for the main selection to vote again here; I'll accept the results of the tie-breaking questions no matter how many people vote, but for the 5% question (#4, I think) I will require a minimum of 16 respondents (24 people participated in the first round of voting, so this would be 2/3s of that) -- fewer than 16 respondents will just mean "no." I've also revised my signature to include links to both the final voting form as well as the in-progress results. Please let me know if you notice that ANY of the links fail to lead where they ought to. (Ditto if you spot any mistakes anywhere. I tried to be careful, but I've had a very rough weekend health-wise, and my medication can make my brain a bit... spotty.) EDIT: Also, I already don't like having to ask people to come back for a second round of voting, so in the event that the TIE-BREAKING round results in more ties... then my thinking is to either A.) use a random number generator or a coin flip to decide which we go with, or B.) make elkawho decide, to take responsibility for suggesting this Listen-Through in the first place. I actually think this is a good way to handle it. In that case, how would you feel about making a new thread for EVERY story we discuss, since we'll be rolling them into the main discussion threads later? Doing so would allow us to to label them as part of the Listen-Through, which would function of "advertising," of a sort, to remind people of what's going on and to maybe entice them to participate? You know: peer pressure.

Interesting bunch we’ve ended up with. Few old favourites, but mostly ones I haven’t heard in years.

I haven't voted and don't have the account to use to vote, so if it's not too late, on the 'tied' letters G & J could you put me down as +1 for 'Ghosts of Gralstead' and 'J&L&Strax' please?
If it helps, I might add that 'The Ghosts of Gralstead' is half of the best set BF have ever produced imo. And we have to have some Jago & Litefoot surely.

I'll just DM you the questions, and you can tell me your votes, which I can add to the final count whenever I tally everything up. Unfortunately, the only way to allow people to go back and modify their responses is to link them to google accounts. Likewise, if anyone else wants to vote but doesn't have an account, or can't access the survey for any other reason just let me know.

Well, we've reached (and exceeded) the 16 vote minimum, so success! I'll probably leave the survey up until Sunday -- I don't *think* there's any reason to feel rushed, is there?
Oh, and just in-case anyone is wondering: because I'll be posting the listen-through threads, I will be deliberately refraining from posting in them for a few days, as I don't really want to be "setting the tone" for all of these discussion -- so don't think I'm not participating or anything. Which is to say: you should all marvel and gasp in awe at the amazing and astonishing restraint I've demonstrated in waiting until today to do my relisten of 'Asking For A Friend,' a truly Heraclean task.
Seriously, though, I'm am so excited to jump right in. I'll be back in an hour!
