I CAN'T RESIST!
"Twelve months is too long to wait, Bring back the doctor don't hesitate.
It was a cold wet night in November Fifty-two years ago, There was a police box in a junkyard We didn't know where it would go, An old man took two teachers Into time and space, It started off a legend That no other could replace.
Doctor in distress, Let's all answer his S.O.S., Doctor in distress, Bring him back now, we won't take less."

Twelve months is too long to wait, bring back the Doctor. Don't hesitate! Yes, I went there. I CAN'T RESIST! "Twelve months is too long to wait, Bring back the doctor don't hesitate. One of the greatest shows on television, a world wide phenomenon and it's taking another year off. And replacing the front runner. As long as Doctor Who is owned by the BBC, then it will always be on the verge of being off the air. Looking at it another way, the BBC are happy to announce TWO seasons at the same time... Not only that, but the production time has been doubled/divided between Who and other projects Moffat is working on. If things go well, we could have a very, very strong transition period between one era and another like Tom Baker's first season that slowly slid between the graphic novel feel of the Letts era and the Gothic horror of Hinchcliffe's tenure.

Actually this is all nonsense anyway, it's not taking a year off, it's just coming back three to six months later than normal. Things are only delayed by that much. If a few months delay helps secure another two years of the show, it's a trade-off I'm happy with.

Moffat spoke to the Scottish Daily Record yesterday and confirmed he's got 14 episodes of Who left. One more than we knew about - the 12-ep Season 10 and the Christmas 2016 special are all Moff has confirmed before. Some overly optimistic fans on F I've seen seemed to think this meant a mid-year special but the Radio Times have made inquiries and understand Moffat will be doing the Christmas ep for 2017 after Season 10 then bowing out.
Nothing most of us hadn't guessed but would seem to put pay to the idea that Capaldi will go at the end of S10. No way Chibnall lets his new Doctor debut with another showrunner and writer. So, pencil in December 25th 2017 for the end of both the Moffat and Capaldi eras I guess.

I think the new single should be sung by Olly Murs, Little Mix, Fleur East, Collabro, Rufus Hound, Ray Quinn and Gary Barlow.

Well, that means it's been on the verge of being off the air for 26 years initially, and by 2018, another 12. Not something the BBC can be made to feel too guilty about. Imagine the alternative - on the commercial channel, it would have been unlikely to have been made at all.

100%, if ITV made Doctor Who in 1963 (and they wouldn't have), it would never have gotten past the Hartnell era with the ratings it was getting then.

I'm assuming May will be the Christmas special with no companion so that buys them a little time. They wouldn't do Doctor-lite until later in the run surely?

I'm guessing a Doctor-lite episode will occur during episode 10 of series 10.

Assuming episodes 11 and 12 are the finale, episode 10 will be the penultimate episode which seems like the right place for a Doctor-lite episode.

Well it was the RTD traditional place to put it, but with the extra production time they have as a result of moving transmission back, there's just no need for a Doctor-lite episode.

I disagree, I think it's important for the lead actor to have a break in filming a show as complex as Doctor Who otherwise it will affect his performance.

My point is that because they're starting filming in May for broadcast next spring they can do that without a Doctor-lite episode. They can build more gaps between blocks than normal to give Capaldi breaks and let Moffat switch focus to Sherlock.

How come when actors work for US shows they can do 26 episodes in a season, but in the UK it's too taxing?
