THE RELEASE DATES…
The Coming of the Martians will be released to Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers via digital download on 15th October, 2017.
Physical products for these customers will then be dispatched as soon as we get them from the manufacturers, which we estimate to start on 6th November, 2017.
Once we have shipped ALL physical products to our Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers we will then release to the general public on 17th November, 2017.
We are suspending pre-orders for this production until 6th November when we will resume the special pricing on the remaining USB Boxes and the DVD release until the 17th November.
WHY THE LONG DELAY?
A note from Martin Johnson…
“Adapting The War of the Worlds into a realistic sounding audio drama in 5.1 surround sound has been a huge challenge, bigger than any previous work in this medium. With so many adaptations of this story being released in 2017, I want ours to stand out from the rest as being the most faithful to the 1897 original and the highest quality production on offer. This means great attention to detail and a depth of soundscapes never before heard on audio. As I’ve said before, I would rather delay the release than produce something we didn’t think was the absolute best and I understand that there may be a few people upset by this delay.
Sherwood Sound Studios is essentially a start-up business. With this, our first major release, we turned to Kickstarter to fund our production. Unlike established audio drama production companies, who have very few creatives working on their releases, we have zero staff. Not only am I the producer of The Coming of the Martians but I’m also the audio editor, sound designer, music composer, disc content producer, product & cover artist, website & ordering admin and distribution guy. It’s very demanding.
With this being a start-up business I can only work on our production during my free time as I currently have a day job, which unfortunately has kept me unusually busy over the last few months due to staff shortages. This is the main cause of the delay and I offer my deepest apologies as there isn’t a great deal I could have done to get more free time.
I hope, once you finally hear our adaptation, you will understand the vast amount of effort that has gone into making it sound like you’re not listening to an audio drama but having a realistic experience of martians destroying southern England in 1910 and indistinguishable from the real world.”

I don't have a problem with waiting for something if the delay is because of quality control. Get it right. Make it the best you possibly can and then let it out into the wild.

So according to the last update, if all goes to plan the download version should be available in 3 days time. I am so ready for this adaptation. Feels like we've waited an age . Cheers Tony

Suggesting it would be released on the 15th (a Sunday) seemed like an approximation to me

few more days means anything from 2 to 7 days

Big Finish's use of the month of release has worked well enough, and is probably more sensible than specifying a specific date

No updates on the website but backers been informed download should be available by the end of November. It keeps getting put back, I just hope the release doesn't get lost in all the other versions that are coming.
Cheers

posted 11th Downloads Update - Windows 10 Update Technical Issues 7 Comments 1 like Hi backers, This a rather disappointing update for all of us and it is because of the recent December Windows 10 update. For those using Apple products or not familiar with the Windows 10 operating system, updates are forced upon us whether we like it or not and can update at any time during operation. I have just spent hours trying to uninstall the latest Windows 10 update because the side effects to my audio workstation were as follows: USB ports no longer work EMU 1616m Audio Interface no longer works < This is unacceptable! I have finally got the USB ports to work and now the audio interface is working but stuttering like crazy! I've tried a few things like reinstalling drivers, uninstalling the update and even changing the interface cable just in case, but it's still doing it! Here is a video of my issue: youtu.be/dlyFzg0TInoI'm really sorry about this everyone. This may delay the downloads until after the weekend as there's not much I can do about it. Not great news, but I hope you all understand. Best regards, Martin, Producer

Sure sounds like this has been a real trial for the producer! It'll be nice when it is actually available
