The article about Feast of Axos refers to an oil refinery in Claws of Axos. I thought it was a nuclear power plant (Nuton, Nunton?). Wasn't the oil refinery in the Harvest of Time novel? I can't recall any TV stories with the Third Doctor, UNIT and an oil refinery (possibly Sea-Devils). Maybe Kenny was thinking of Terror of the Zygons.
Otherwise good coverage of the month's releases. Nothing really on the Short Trip, but then it'd be hard to get two pages worth of article about one half hour story. The Vortex Mail has become a bit bland though. It's mainly Nick noting that people love the output, or saying that there are no plans for what people are suggesting, much like the podcast e-mails have become.

Vortex Mail can only go by the letters it receives!

Are folk still getting new Vortex issues in with recent orders. My big January order arrived today (River, Churchill and Avengers) but no Vortex. Not even an old issue that I was getting in with a lot of orders in the latter months of last year.
Only BF arrival in January was Torchwood which also came without a Vortex. I had a complete collection of Vortexes too. Will email sales to ask about getting one in my next order, although replies here might potentially point to printed copies in orders being phased out.
If they are still going out you'd hope that having a sub to something like Torchwood plus every month having a box set or three to buy should mean that my minimum of two packages per month means always getting at least one copy of that month's issue.

Have you already had a printed copy of the current one? Maybe they're cutting back on duplication.

I tend not to get them in my Torchwood subs. Those packages don't include the sales receipt either, so it's probably a resources thing. This Main Range sale is going to be tough on the warehouse staff.

I would be quite happy if they kept track enough to not send out duplicates which go straight into my recycling bin. I am keen to keep my printed collection complete though until such time as they stop printing them. I have noticed that pre-orders come without a sales receipt but can't be sure if they never arrive with a Vortex. I'll email BF with a pretty please can you send me the January issue in a future order. I don't know about the rest of you but if it helped BF I'd be quite happy if they were to start charging extra. Perhaps when placing an order you have to option to add on a Vortex (latest or even pick from list of recent issues or list of all issues still available) and it added an extra pound or something to the price. Would help fund their continued printing and reduce wastage.

Torchwood 1.6 arrived today with the new (February) Vortex so they are included with subs sometimes.
Looking through my Vortex pile and I have at least two copies of each issue from September to December of last issue. Three copies of Sept and Nov, four copies of Dec. All the more surprising to then not receive Jan's at all.
As I said will email those helpful souls at BF and hopefully soon have that gap filled.
