What is this Torchwood people keep chatting about 🤪😉 I got a few of the "fun" releases of the monthly range and some of them are quite good/ fun. I liked the Green Life and Serenity for example. And Jack together with Colin was awesome, but that might just be because Colin could turn anything into gold.
For all the warnings about "this is not for the kids", it is much tamer than I had expected.
I am however not sure I could handle any of the darker and more graphic or "full on" Torchwood releases at the moment, however good everybody else says they are. All in all, for someone like me who had avoided Torchwood for a long while, I still try to keep an open mind.
You will also crack sooner or later.
Mark my words. (Evil laughter in the background). Yes and perhaps i will even enjoy the last season of televised who.....🤪🤪

On Monday, I binge listened to all of the Fourth Doctor 7B set. Some good stories there: Shadow of London, The Bad Penny, Kill the Doctor!, The Age of Sutekh. Yesterday, I got started on The Fourth Doctor Series 8, Volume 1, with The Sinestran Kill. I like WPC Ann Kelso.

Finished Memories of a Tyrant, which was both subtle and intellectual, as well as entertaining.
Legacy of Time, ep. 1: Lies in Ruins - brilliant opening, lots of one liners, but also pathos. Looking forward to the next episode.

Yesterday I finished a re-listen of Destiny of the Doctor with Death's Deal and The Time Machine. I guess I still think Catherine Tate sounds a little bit subdued when just narrating, but if I really wanted to fault anyone, possibly the director? Much enjoyed both stories, though. It's actually the first time I listened to The Time Machine, which I'd been saving for a long time because of the rarity of Big Finish with Jenna Coleman, but I really wanted to hear the entire set at long last. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Jenna's narration, and I thought both actresses did quite well at invoking the presence of The Doctor somehow, which certainly seems like an added bonus.
I guess The Doctor's 50th was my warm-up for Big Finish's 20th then - listened to The Legacy of Time today and am quite sure I got my money's worth. A few very small complaints, but it delivered everything it promised as far as I'm concerned, even though I did build up high expectations. Thank you, Big Finish! Happy 20th and many more!

Just started “13 minutes to the moon”. A absolutely astonishing podcast detailing the moon landing. Definitely recommended.

In the absence of 'The Legacy of Time' in my life (until pay day at least) I'm having a relisten to 'The Condemned'.
Now this is a northern 8 out of 10 if I've ever heard one. Excellent story and D.I. Menzies is a great character.

Continuing with Legacy of Time. Really hope this brightens up a bit! I was pretty shocked by the first story yesterday- I would never have expected them to go THAT far. Anyways, let's find out.

Whipped through the Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 8 Volume 1. How dare they end on a cliff hanger? Now on Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 8 Volume 2 and the plot thickens. I may have to go back and re-listen to Volume 1 to look for clues.

Celebrating the First Lady of Big Finish with her first box set, Epoch - one of the very first Bennie audios I listened to. Great to hear it again.

Jumped straight from Legacy of Time 1 to 3 - probably not a great idea, but I really wanted to hear this one. Will go back to 2 afterwards. Liking Tim Treloar’s 3rd Doc more than I expected.

So I've now listened to two more episodes from The Legacy of Time.
The Split Infinitive - a bit more conventional than either of the stories that sandwich it, but a clever use of narrative structure that heightens the tension. Always good to have Counter-Measures in the hands of a talented writer.
The Sacrifice of Jo Grant - I'll be astounded if this isn't the best episode in the whole of LoT. It would take a lot to top this one. I've said elsewhere: This story has everything you could want from a story with Jo Grant, and Katy Manning truly shines.
{Spoiler} This may be Tim Treloar's best performance as the 3rd Doctor as well. He nails every line across a greater range of emotions than he's had to tackle in any previous script.

Survivors Series 3.
{Spoiler} Goodbye, Maddie and Daniel.
What an absolute blast this third series has been. Going back to the breakout of 'the death', and hello Jimmy Garland. I don't really remember Richard Heffer from the original series, and I am surprised he seems only to feature in this one series of audio Survivors. He's a cheery, unflappable ex-soldier and really added a hint of optimism to the very grim situation. The opposite to this is the character of John Vincent, or Vinnie, brilliantly brought to life by Paul Thorney. Vinnie is a very real character, and it is terrifying and inevitable that people like him probably would gain a foothold of 'power' in a post-apocalyptic world. I never realised before that The British Government were mentioned fleetingly in the previous box-set - a nice touch of ongoing continuity. With lots of great moments for the other characters, this third series is a brutal, raw example of what this series can be. Absolutely brilliant.

Two more episodes from The Legacy of Time Relative Time - a fun romp The Avenues of Possibility - it's about time that we had {Spoiler}The return of DI Menzies, and also a story with Henry Fielding. Having a character surnamed Stables was a nice touch, as tribute to the late Maggie Stables.
