Terminator:Dark Fate, finally a Terminator flick that for the most part delivers a excellent continuation of the saga post T2, great action sequences, Linda Hamilton IS still a bad ass as Sarah Connor & Arnie despite only beong in the last hour of the movie gives his best performance in the role since T2. My only gripe & it's a BIG Gripe is the John Connor arc, this really annoyed me with where his story goes & therefore goes down the ole PC route which I'm sick to death of. Ratings wise. 8/10 Interesting. It looks appalling to me.

Doctor Zhivago
That was quite enjoyable. At over three hours you could never quite tell where the story was going to go next and it continued to surprise. I particularly liked how the framing story went from something that felt very sinister to something very innocent. Alec Guinness gave such a good performance in those scenes (incidentally, this is the first movie I've seen him in outside of Star Wars; just another actor I need to experience more of). In a similar vein, this was my first experience watching Omar Sharif and he was amazing. I'm thinking I might have to track down Lawrence of Arabia to see more of him from that era.
If there's one thing I'm left a little confused about it's Zhivago's loyalties. He seemed such an honest man in the beginning and by the end he seemed to have all but forgotten his original life. I'd be interested in knowing what became of his wife and son. I think this is a movie that probably benefits from a second viewing. I think I missed a lot of the visual metaphors in the first two hours and I imagine that they would probably help in explaining a bit of Zhivago's personal development (by the time I started noticing them it was kind of obvious what they were symbolising - they'd probably be more informative to me now if I were to watch it again).

The Killing of a Sacred Deer
(Brit Chiller with Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman. A Surgeon {Farrell] fails to save a patient but forms a bond with their son, however introducing him to his family, results in sudden dire medical issues for his own children and behaviour issues in his wife [Kidman])

Bohemian Rhapsody
Was ok, but didn’t live up to praise that it got.
Didn’t realise just how much of a little shit he was, and how lucky he was to keep his true friends
But ok watch.
And struck me how just how good and well craft songs they did, had a bit of queen overkill when he died and kinda dismissed them........I a re-think and listen is over dude .......

Halloween 2018, seen this three times & while it's a decent enough horror retcon alternative sequel i do think it's vastly overhyped.
3/5.

28 Days Later - Alas, I failed to entice Mr Polly to do a double feature with 28 Weeks. No matter. He's only delaying the inevitable.
My main memory of the first time I saw this is queasiness. I was in my one-room first apartment, lying on my fold-out couch-bed, having eaten some hot dogs that'd gone off. In retrospect, that may have enhanced the experience.
Anyway, it is very, very good. As much as it tried not to be one, it set the tone for zombie fiction of the 2000s. And it features the fantastic Doctor Nine as a callous bastard.
As with Lynch's Inland Empire, I think using DV Camcorders to make a feature film is silly mistake every time. Yes, I understand wanting grittiness or whatever, but there are other ways to achieve that. The last scenes of the movie with the HELLO banner are done on 35mm and the difference in quality is night and day, especially on BluRay.

The Terminal Man. 1974 film adaptation of the Michael Crichton novel starring George Segal and directed by Mike Hodges. A truly interesting film featuring a murderers row of mid-70s character actors but let down by a miscast Segal.

The House of Tomorrow
(Oddball feelgood drama. Upon learning his Scientist Grandmother is ill, a young man [Asa Butterfield] dreads the thought of being the sole occupant of his family's famous Bio-Dome, he seeks solace with his neighbours, a free style Parenting single Father, his forthright Daughter and Punk loving Son.)

Friday the 13th Part 2, great sequel but the ending is very badly handled, where's Paul?
Friday the 13th Part 3. Still no sign of Paul while Jason has grown 3 inches, is now completely bald & clean shaven.

Remember the story about the lead actor from 1 of the early ones- they sacked him and recast?

Joker Holy crap. This film was amazing. The tension just cranked and cranked and cranked. I did see one reveal coming but it was still a gut punch. Phoenix is incendiary. He deserves an Oscar for this

The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.....featuring some guy named Tom Baker. It really is amazing how good Ray Harryhausen was. Yes it is clearly stop motion animation but it is blended so seamlessly that it comes off as real. Oh and Caroline Munro.

Rewatched the 90s Addams Family. How they handle Fester works so much better on rewatch and the writers don't ceat with peppering in clues. Also, Raul Julia.
