Cop Land, a wonderful gritty action thriller. I really enjoyed Cop Land - and most of James Mangold's work - but I'm not sure it's an action-thriller. That makes it sound more Die Hard like than it really is. It's almost a Western with Stallone playing the Gary Cooper role of the stoic but quiet sheriff who eventually has enough. Yeah it's more like High Noon, i like how Slys character Freddie goes from downbeat sheriff to taking a stand against injustice.

Punisher - War Zone.
Really enjoyed this although Ray Stevenson was a bit plain as Frank Castle. Wasn't this originally meant to have been a sequel to the Thomas Jane film, just with a recast? wonder why they decided to go with the Comic Book origin rather than the previous film

Deadpool worked because they kept the tone of the character R rated & the boffo box office proves if these leased out Marvel franchises are done right by other studios they can bring in big bucks.
I am glad Wolverine 3 going to be R rated, i always felt the character was restrained in these movies so seeing him finally unleashed is going to make Jackmans final Wolverine movie i hope memorable.
I find Singers X -Men films to be quite bland at times, i liked the first movie, i thought the second good in parts & DOFP started well but slowly become a huge leftdown especially in the last act, i wanted a bigger battle against the sentinels as it built up this story arc which didn't quite pay off, it lacked drama, danger & tension.
First Class is my favourite X-Men movie, i thought Matthew Vaughan a great choice as it's director, well paced, dramatic, emotional & a decent climax.

Wanted. With James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman
I so didnt realise it was Chris Pratt as McAvoy's best mate in this. It had been so long since i'd seen it. Professor X and Peter Quill showdown lol

Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next. It's, for him, a less partisan film. The premise is that he "invades" other countries to see what policies would improve the US.
Is it true that Americans don't get guaranteed paid holidays? Moore says the lucky few get 2 or 3 weeks paid a year. I've never had a job where I didn't get 4 weeks paid at least and never through about other countries way of doing things but can't fathom getting less than that.
The other things he focuses on include education (free healthcare, school meals and no private schools), prison services (including sentence lengths and prisoners voting rights) and the war on drugs. It's quite thought provoking to contrast and compare. There's a ad part with a US student who had to move to Slovenia to go to university as she couldn't afford even a year of community college stateside. In Scotland we don't pay for University fees so it was quite something to see a middle class American have to move across the word to better themselves, or take on tens of thousands of dollars in debt before being old enough to buy a beer.

10-12 vacation days a year is the average in the US
But most people are so overworked they can barely take that.
There are major holidays that almost everyone gets as well: Christmas Day, New Years Day, Memorial, July 4th, Labour Day, and Thanksgiving.
Depending on your work you may get a few others. At my work we also get the day after Thanksgiving but this isn't common for everyone.
Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Day, & Veterans Day are also common paid holidays but I personally don't get those off.

That's insane to me. I had no idea. There must be so many people just completely burnt out. 20 days plus all the bank holidays are the minimum I've heard of here. My old job was 30 days paid and that was a very junior management job. I normally take 3 weeks in the summer and then a week over Christmas where you can make it a fortnight off is you use the 5 days tacticaly, and that barely feels enough.

Very excited to see this (although will probably have to wait for the digital release or Dogwoof's DVD release.) Roger and Me, Fahrenheit 9/11 and Capitalism: A Love Story are all very strong (though I've yet to see Bowling for Columbine, which will provide an interesting counterpoint to more recent gun violence and school shootings, and also Gus van Sant's re-enactment of sorts in Elephant). Rewatched the TV movie because I didn't want to wait for the 20th anniversary of the Fox broadcast or BBC broadcast. Thanks, obscure Canadian networks, for justifying a rewatch (it's probably been 4 years at this point; was going to rewatch around the time of The Night of the Doctor but never got round to it)! Ended up writing 2300 words about how I love it so much oopsI'm considering making a video about how it worked as a relaunch of the series, and was prescient of the new series, but it would never get past Content ID given how even using a couple of seconds of a clip of any BBC programme tends to be automatically detected and then blocked worldwide.

Alex Cross.
Was okay, just a bit over the top. I know it was based on one of the books, i'm just unsure where it was in the timeline lol. Interesting that this was only Tyler Perry's second film outside of the ones he makes himself

Finally watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I can't believe I'd managed to keep away from the major spoiler for so long, only to be told by my 6 year old 10 minutes into the film. Bloody kids!
Anyway a good film, very much in the same vein as the original ("A New Hope" for you youngsters), if not almost a total remake lol.
Cheers
Tony

The Ides of March. www.imdb.com/title/tt1124035/Didn't feel in the least bit invested in any of the characters or in the plot. Got bored and went upstairs to play around on the computer mid-way through, even though I wanted to give it a shot even just for P.S.Hoffman. My wife finished it and her description of the remainder did not make me regret my decision.

The Numbers Station (2013) An okay thriller with John Cusack and Malin Akerman. Could have been better, thought they might of gone the creepypasta route, but it was just a by the books thriller

JCVD in Derailed on Sony Movies.
An awful movie with atrocious editing & the use of a Hornby railway model at the movies climax has to be seen to be believed.
Why JCVD why?

Firefly, Serenity. The Reavers are as scary as they are made out to be. Why on earth did Fox have to screw the show over? It's so good! Because it's Fox.

He needed the cash probably When i think of Double Impact, Universal Soldier, Hard Target & Timecop then see him in this drivel it's hard to believe how hard his career has fallen. I like JCVD he has bipolar like myself & i can certainly understand why he self destructed his career.
