Thanks for the 'More Than This' recommendations. I did consider getting this but felt the trailer was a little 'jokey'. I am probably almost entirely wrong about that. There's a good chance I'll end up getting all, if not most of these in the fullness of time because the ones I've heard so far have been excellent (I hadn't even heard of Dark Shadows before the the audios, so I blame Big Finish that I subsequently purchased everything I could to do with that show on the strength of the excellent audios - the same could very well happen with Torchwood).

Yay, beat you. Clearly the extra seconds you spent typing a more detailed explanation of the link were a mistake.

That's another one I can recommend. Everything you need to know is in the story. This actually ties into something from the Christmas party podcast, where it was mentioned both David Selby and Susan Sullivan, who play Quentin and Lela in Panic, were in a TV show called Falcon Crest ages ago.

There are some funny parts but it's not treated as a joke as all. The story is very meaningful. I won't say more but definitely give it a listen. I wasn't a Torchwood on TV fan either but I love the audios. This is one of my favorites

I was always in love with the idea of Torchwood but barring the odd ep (especially PJ Hammonds two), the first two series on telly never clicked. It was Children Of Earth where the show achieved its potential for me. Yet BF have taken stories with the characters from the first two years and made them work so much more than I thought possible. Ianto has gone from being a non-entity in my book to being one of my favourites all thanks to BF. They've expanded the lore of cool secondary characters like Andy, Yvonne and Susie. When TW was announced my reaction was "Why aren't we getting a Series 5 on audio?" I don't think that anymore, these eps set (mostly) before the end of the TV series are just so good. I didn't love a couple but I can honestly say there's not been a bad story. Maybe a couple of lesser ones (and The Conspiracy falls uner that category for me) but it's a consistently quality range.

I think I am a 'wrong way round' fan of Torchwood. The episode on television I loved most of all of the ones I saw was 'From Out of the Rain', which seems one of the least liked by others. I thought it was excellent - atmospheric, eeerie and with some great performances. And yet the more well-received stuff left me a little cold. I have a few days off from work and I have a genuine feeling, due to posters' kind responses, that I'll be buying 'More Than This!' By the way, Dark Shadows: Panic is highly recommended. As is any BF Dark Shadows

Indeed it did, and he was one of the reasons I liked the episode so much. He might have had a more memorable exit, but he had a very creepy 'vibe' about him.

This is one of my favorites Way too late to be asking this, but do the Torchwood audios require any serious knowledge of the series proper? I'm willing to give it a try at this price, but I could never get into the series, so I'd be going in practically blind. (I actually forgot about the 12 days of xmas sales this year! I suppose I'm running out of new material; I presumed there wouldn't be anything for me in the sales!)

There may be references to TV stories, but they're more like easter egg references.

A Nick Briggs nostalgia trip. It's a great price at least, even if the story is largely forgettable.
