Well! Sometimes it's nice to be proven wrong... I thought that I wasn't going to find anything in this year's sale, as I feel too caught up on most ranges. So far out of the first four sales I've already grabbed three things (Torchwood, Tom Baker@80, & today's Fourth Doctor Adventures offer), so I'm glad to be wrong! And heck, if I only get three things the whole sale, I'll still be glad to have gotten something!
(Funny enough, I'm actually not a fan of Tom Baker, but I've loved the interview releases I've heard from BF, and I can't argue with the price for today's 4DA story)

My first purchase today - another gap filled in series 4, only 3 stories to go.

Yes! Something I don't have. Ditto. First Big Finish-Mas purchase of this year.

Haven't bought a whole lot yet. Bought Terrahawks when they went on offer and Tom at 80. Not much at all.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Went and got the Tom Baker interview, The Exxilons and added (finally) Full Fathom Five to the list: I've only listened to a couple of Unbounds (Alt-3 and the Brig) but I love the concept and Michael Collings has the most amazing voice in all of Christendom.

Ha! I kid you not, I had every intention of buying the Pathfinder Legends series 2 bundle today. I bought Burnt Offerings on last year's sale, and enjoyed it enough to nab series 1. I'll bypass this sale... but only because I'm getting the whole season instead.

Dammit! They still manage to find something to tempt me with, maybe I should just get my salary paid directly into BF's bank account Cheers Tony

I have read some less than complimentary reviews about this but at less than £3 it is more than worth a listen. This will be my fourth purchase from this sale.

I've been listening to this just today! My kids love it. But they are 3&5.
It's an unusual one. The problems with it are more problems with the original story. It is interesting to see how the original book works. Where the film ends there's another whole chapter to get through.
Wicked witch, head of winged monkeys, tin man and lion are all good performances. And Oz himself actually.
At 2.99 it's an inexpensive curio.

I've heard some iffy things about this one, but it's Marc Platt (the writer who's the entire reason I found BF), and it's 2.99, so I'll give it a try. I doubt I could hate it as much as I loathed the BF Frankenstein... Plus I've no love for the 1939 film (I think I'm the one person who never liked it), so I'll probably be more open-minded towards this adaptation! (I know I said it before, but I'm still shocked... four pickups in eight days! And I thought I'd get out of this sale empty-handed!)

But as it goes, Frankenstein had a good cast and fine direction, but it botches the 'adaptation' part. It alters the story to change the characters into a series of vile immoral psychopaths, to the point of comedy in some cases. It was an ugly, nasty adaptation that gave no characters to symathize with, and ended on a non-climactic dead end that left me honestly angry (bonus for the fact that I heard the ending on my lunch hour at work, and spent the next two hours fuming at my post!). I was genuinely surprised when I realized that adapter Jonathan Barnes (who also wrote the perfectly awful DW audio Persuasion) wrote the recent excellent run on Sherlock Holmes! That said, the Big Finish Classics line also brought us their wonderful adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, which to my knowledge is the only version to properly follow the Gaston Leroux novel (a personal favorite). So that's a point in favor of listening to more of them. Which is why I'm open-minded enough to give The Wizard of Oz a try for the sake of this sale!

This is one of my favorite adaptations solely because the book was my favorite growing up and I've returned to the entire series of Baum written Oz books frequently. It's not the best book in the series (that probably goes to Ozma, The Emerald City, or The Patchwork Girl) but it is a good adaptation of a decent book.

I had a smartphone for Christmas, and I still haven't figured out how to connect it to Wi-Fi - this gives you some idea of how computer-literate I am! Cheers for the reply. I actually quite liked most of the tweaks they made to Frankenstein, but I cetainly agree that the endin wasn't so much as open-ended as ... a non-ending, really! And I share your thoughts about The Wizard of Oz, which I'll be listening to this week.

Really enjoying this sale. 5 purchases so far and I'm sure there'll be more before the twelve days are over. Favourite of the sale (apart from the lovely early release of River Song's second diary entries) is Breaking Bubbles and Other Stories. Very intrigued by the Wizard of Oz and can't say no at that price! :-)
