Just paid 30 Euro to a UK Ebay Seller for the DVD of the latest Season 4 of Wellington Paranormal. I LOVE and adore the show, even had some private and personal Email conversation with Karen O'Leary. Yes, I know this is an expensive purchase and I paid about double of what it should be.... however, for some weird reason, this show has never caught on in Germany and it is just impossible to buy in Germany otherwise. So Ebay UK it is then.

Just bought a signed copy of the next book of my all-time favorite book series. Guilty pleasure. It is the Pendergast Series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Next book "Cabinet of Doctor Leng" will come out in January.

Took the $20 I might've spent on Big Finish audios this month and pre-ordered Pentiment instead.
Not super sure what all to expect from this (aapparently it's very inspired by Umberto Eco's 'Name of the Rose') but I've heard it makes use of several time skips (which I suppose just means more than just one) which has me intrigued. It's amazing how under-used time-skips are in RPGs considering that they're one of the best (and also cheapest) ways to demonstrate narrative reactivity.

Got a Studio Ghibli DVD collection on Ebay today. I must confess to my shame that I have only seen a few of the movies. I thought I will rectify this. I know that these movies tackle some tough topics and show some heartbreaking scenes and finally watching them will be a challenge. I certainly have been traumatized by Grave of the Fireflies and am not sure I could ever watch it again. Yes, it is beautiful and a heartbreaking story about children suffering from war, but it actually caused me nightmares.

Oh wow! 👍🏻🎉 That’s awesome! ⭐️ I’m a Studio Ghibli fan but I haven’t seen everything as well. Have never seen Grave of the Fireflies because my siblings watched it without me (I was out that movie night) & were very saddened by it. for years they talked about the candy tin & how the sound brought traumatized feelings. They stay away from those candy tins when we went grocery shopping. . With my siblings I’ve watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (& Warriors of the Wind English dubbed, which was the only version we could get as kids), Mononoke Hime, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Whispers of the Heart, & part of Howl’s Moving Castle. You’ve inspired me. When I house sit for them I’ll watch their Ghibli movies. 🍿 they have lots of the newer ones. 😁

Cannot wait to check it out!
Well, the ones I have seen so far are Grave of the Fireflies, Ponyo, Mononoke and the Moving Castle. I have several friends who are big fans, and are raving about the movies all the time, but as I said, I am all too aware that some of them are psychologically challenging. Grave of the Fireflies is a very challenging movie (at least for me) and I am not surprised your siblings were traumatized.
I looked the movie up on the internet, and one of the reasons Grave of the Fireflies is so traumatizing is the cultural differences between the West and Japan. So apparently what the kids do and how they act makes total sense and is honourable and "the good way" for Japanese people. It comes across as much more hopeful and motivating, instead of devastating. I can only guess, but for Japanese kids, this is much more similar to Brothers Lionheart (by Astrid Lindgren)- which is also heartbreaking and full of tough choices and experiences, but with a hopeful subtext.
I thought this was very interesting. With this, I will definitely tread new ground.
Great that I inspired you.
If you like, I can send you a private message when I have seen one / more movies and we could do a little discussion. But only if you like.
However, no idea how long it will take for the DVDs to arrive.....

Yes that would be nice. Take your time waiting for your dvds tuigirl. I will watch some Ghibli movies in March when I house sit. (I don’t have a tv or player where I reside right now). I recall they have Spirited Away, Ponyo, & Earthsea? & I have Nausicaa & Mononoke. We don’t have a complete collection. We buy the individual dvd or blu ray special boxsets. anytime you want to start our little discussion, we can start with Mononoke if you like? (Since that’s the one movie we have both seen. 😁) Just private message me anytime. 👍🏻

Only real place to stick it..A nice easy vid to kick off the weekend which a fair few subscribers had requested in my Q&A and in comments, a glimpse, not in depth of my blurays, DVDs etc and how I store them. Less a tour than a driveby.

Recent Bluray 4K Pickups Haul - BFI, Arrow, Indicator, Radiance, Criterion, Eureka, 88, Studiocanal.
A truly odd lot this past couple of months - all sorts. From Kung Fu to Yakuza to Cold-War German punk musicals, to Westerns to two very different Sherlock Holmes films and via a pair of Ugandan Action Movies! Yeah...I dunno about that last one either...but it's here!
