Is the cast list read over the ending music like the first series of the 8DAs?. If so I would find that a bit irritating It is but I understand that, BF customers who have a visual impairment have been asking for it for years.

If it helps those people then that's good enough for me. I will get used to it

They have the right to brand their material and a separate track honestly defeats the purpose of having the tag there. The dedicated pirate would have no problem in running track one through free audio editing software and removing the five seconds of audio if they so chose so I don't really think it does serve a useful purpose in that sense. As for identifying the company on streaming platforms, again, I can't see why a separate track would make any difference. It's not as if I would actually know what Big Finish is thinking, but the gesture of having the ID and the opening theme being all one track might be partly aimed at the pirate who isn't going to go through the trouble of separating the tracks and might delete separate identifiers along with behind-the-scenes tracks and anything else except the story tracks per se, in order to conserve upload bandwidth for maximum piracy (if not also further compress mp3s for the same reason) - whereas even I'm a dedicated enough listener to separate the tracks myself if the ID bothered me anywhere near that much (or maybe even sub in the same opening track without the ID from a different audio, for some of them?) The most disconcerting thing about the ID at the minute for me (and really it isn't much) is simply that I wasn't accustomed to it but I'm sure they must have the right to change taglines if they choose and really shouldn't concern themselves with how well I'll adjust to it. It was very similar with the credits read out at the end of some of the 8DAs, that seemed very odd at first just because I wasn't at all used to it in the beginning. It really affects my enjoyment of a story itself about as much as the artwork not having my favorite color scheme does - it's the story that really matters - and if any of it helps the listener to be more aware of Big Finish by the time an audio gets to them via radio or stream or torrent or Audible or whatever, I'm not quire sure where I want to complain about them striving to build their business a little. All the same, I can easily understand if others do feel differently about things - but I think that's my take on it, FWIW.

Hmmm, I just sat down to listen to the new 3DAs and the Big Finish identifier is a separate track. And there you have it, I really do have no idea whatsoever what Big Finish is thinking
