Since December the releases have started with this at the start of each story on each release. Personally I think it's annoying, but I get everything through Big Finish. I don't mind the reading of the cast list at the end though.
What do you guys think?

It’s 2 seconds at the start, personally I find it’s come and gone before I even have time to think about it

It's not a big deal, but it is annoying.

There are new listeners picking up the CDs who don't know who Big Finish are and would rightly assume it's a BBC release, so I don't see the harm and Big Finish are expanding to do more original content, as well.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

It's really no more or less annoying than a station/company ident at the beginning or end of every other piece of entertainment. It's less objectionable than "Sit, Ubu, sit." or "I made this" or "Grrr, argh" but not as iconic as a roaring lion, a spotlit edifice overlaid with trumpets or some guy banging a gong... yet.
(I did like James Marsters attempt of "Big Finish... We love stories. And kittens.")

I don’t see what the big deal is. Big Finish is finally doing something they probably should have done a long time ago. It neither enhances nor distracts from the production.

I find it obnoxious, intrusive and grating, because like, I suspect, many people, I resent being repeatedly told something I already know, particularly when I paid for the privilege. I also find the idea that people listening to this stuff on cd or download being somehow unaware of Big Finish rather farcical, given that they are mentioned repeatedly in any extras, on any attached trailers, their logo is on the cover, and so on.
Putting these kind of identifiers on in front of one of their stories playing on the radio, or via soundcloud or spotify or so on, sure, that's smart and appropriate use of branding, because there your audience may well not be particularly informed, but doing so on paid downloads and cd's, I'm not convinced it adds anything beyond slight irritation to some of your loyal listeners and customers.
It grates on me and I don't like it for all the reasons mentioned, that said I'm not outraged by it or anything, and am a bit embarrassed my mention of how I dislike it may have inspired this thread. It's just a slight irritation that if given my druthers I'd personally prefer to do without.

I am rather surprised at how annoyed I get every time I hear it. It seems particularly unnecessary with the CDs where there's already branding on the packaging. I think there's something about putting it right before the story starts (rather than at the end) that is particularly intrusive - it really pulls me out of any pre-credit scene - same with when they put trailers before the start of stories a few years back. Back then they made a decision that the story comes first over marketing, whatever the business argument.
I will say I quite like having the cast read out at the end, and I wouldn't have minded that sooner. (It would be even better if it were after each story so you didn't have to wait until the end of the box set to hear who played what.)

I'm not sure why people are getting so worked up regarding something so trivial. This isn't unique to Big Finish as Audible also start all downloads with 'This is Audible' and end with 'Audible hopes you've enjoyed this program', it just reinforces their brand. Maybe it's the phrasing; what introduction including 'Big Finish' would people prefer to hear beforehand?

If the “payment” of having a cast list at the end is the single line at the start of the production I am all for it.
As long as they don’t start putting it between episodes or putting commercials into their releases I am fine with it.

It's not something that especially bothers me - what'd really bother me is if they read it over the opening titles - but I have to admit I err more on the side of finding it unnecessary. As Judge Fish pointed out, 9/10 times you already know this is a Big Finish production if you obtained it on CD or if you went through the Big Finish website to buy it on download. It makes perfect sense if it's being broadcast on radio, but not so much for direct purchases. I'm aware other audio productions do this such as Audible, but that doesn't mean I necessarily like when they do it either.
That all being said, it's a trivial issue that I'm more than happy to overlook. I usually have the option of skipping it on my iPod, so it's not all that obtrusive. As I said, the only time I'd really consider it a problem is if it was placed over the opening/closing music like in the first eight Eighth Doctor Adventures - that's when it'd be intruding on my experience.

It honestly doesn't bother me all that much (the fade-in between the TV version of the Sixth Doctor theme and the Album version that they've started doing recently bothers me more, actually xD) and I can understand why they'd feel that they need to, with their expanding into Audible and other digital markets. In some ways, it almost makes it feel more like a broadcast TV story which is a big plus for me.

In some ways, it almost makes it feel more like a broadcast TV story which is a big plus for me. I knew that BF was on Spotify but not on Audible. Given that the stories are also broadcast on radio, it makes perfect sense that there'd be some sort of ident at the beginning or the end so that interested people could go look for more if they wish.

And for the record, hearing “You’re listening to a Big Finish Production” on a release doesn’t bother me in the least.
Not sure why it’s such a big deal that it needs its own thread.

I find it annoying in the same way that I find those FBI warnings on DVDs annoying—look, I already bought and paid for the damned thing, I know. However, for radio broadcasts and streaming services like Spotify, I completely understand.
