I just want to see the cover art so bad! It seems a strange news piece with no cover art reveal or full cast list. They must be planning on having at least one more bite at the promotion cherry for this! When Stockbridge was mentioned I did wonder if Max Edison would be in it!? Does anyone know if he was in the comic?

In fact I think the village wasn’t even named in the original comic but then was given the name Stockbridge and Max started appearing when the Fifth Doctor returned to the village in his own run.

Oh, the hype is real. Whoever's been writing the blurbs sounds as though they've been having a mountain of fun.

A question about 'The Star Beast' (since I've never read a single one of the comic strips.)
The news story mentions 'The alien monster craziness is contrasted sharply with a dash of kitchen sink drama and a touch of Grange Hill'.
Now that sounds the sort of new-Who style I loathe to the point of it being off-putting, so here's my question for those who know the original strip: is that marketing to show how modern and relevant (etc.) this was, or was the original story really noticeably like that? I want alien monster craziness, not social realism.

It wasn't hard boiled realism Iron legion is slightly more mature (because it was an Adapted Judge Dread pitch,) but Star Beast I think would've made an ok TV script at the time if they could've pulled the Aliens look.

This is a 2019 adaptation of a 1979 comic, so even if the original comic didn't have the social realism you want to avoid, it doesn't necessarily mean the audio won't.

Cheers Mark, that sounds right then and obviously I want to order: it's TOM! I'd better get the pre-order in then.

I don't know why but seeing Toby Longworth listed as being part of the cast always makes me happy. Also, I would love for them to go all out and contracted Dave Gibbons to do the cover art work.

From memory it certainly is more in keeping with Nu-Who with a companion who is more working class & from a real world the readers could identify with. & she was the first black companion. Pat Mills ahead of the game again.

Just noticed the dates these stories were recorded, and wow they've been thinking far ahead:
Iron Legion was recorded 28 November and 5 December 2016, Star Beast was 12 and 19 October 2017.
Hopefully this means that there's going to be a Volume 2 considering they did them a year apart.

I wouldn't read too much into the recording dates because most of Tom's stuff is recorded several years in advance.
