I hope it does well enough so they manage to get a set each for Peter, Colin, Sylvester and Paul out. I don’t think it has to be an exhaustive range, but something from each of them would be nice. Certainly more Frobisher!

The Frobisher and Peri stories(although I would want them to tweak the reason so I could link thme with Widow's Assassin) were a lot of fun.
They supposedly had difficuty getting people to take .a penguin as a companion seriously so having Frobisher AND Peri could be a way around that. It also depends on what they have access to. I tend to feel they will lean into Tom Baker comics hard as they were often the most bonkers.
Also, aince Sylvester's new companion is a werewolf I would be very surprised if the comic about Space werewolves isn't the next one to be adapted. Also, I believe Sharon was involved in that one too.
For Who's missteps they always had stuff that was ahead of time like Pik Sim in Mind of Evil, Faria in Enemy of the World and Sharon.
Ive always been super proud that I was one of the peole who knew about Sharon.
And none of this is "New Who contamination" or whatever thw grumbles are saying. I've read the original story several times and all these snide comments are just wrong. BF is describing what happens in the comic. They arent changing it to be more like New Who.
They are adapting two really bonkera and fun stories from Tom's time in comics.

A question about 'The Star Beast' (since I've never read a single one of the comic strips.)
The news story mentions 'The alien monster craziness is contrasted sharply with a dash of kitchen sink drama and a touch of Grange Hill'.
Now that sounds the sort of new-Who style I loathe to the point of it being off-putting, so here's my question for those who know the original strip: is that marketing to show how modern and relevant (etc.) this was, or was the original story really noticeably like that? I want alien monster craziness, not social realism.
From memory it certainly is more in keeping with Nu-Who with a companion who is more working class & from a real world the readers could identify with. & she was the first black companion. Pat Mills ahead of the game again. Thanks and that's interesting because I know nothing about the comic strips for any Doctor.
But I wasn't thinking about Sharon - story themes was what I'd wondered about after reading the news piece; the 'family life' side of some earlier new-Who TV stories gave me an allergy to such things. (I think they did that side of things very well in S11 with Ryan/Graham/Grace btw. And also in S10 with Bill by having her other (pre-Doctor) life there, but just as a brief background for her to launch into the next adventure from; my favourite new Who companion to date, although I think Ryan & Graham as a team are challenging hard for that top spot.)
I like companion variety (like Sixie's great audio companions line-up over the years) and getting only the second new audio companion for Fourth just two months after the first is very good (even if she's existed for a long time in comic form.)
Much as I enjoy hearing from all the classic TV companions, BF have also created classic companions of their own and it's good to bring to audio life those from other mediums too. I never explored the print world of Who during the 'Wilderness Years' so Chris and Roz on the 7VNAs were the latest 'new' (to me) audio companions (before WPC Kelso this month -excellent!) and I hope we'll get Vol2 etc., because they and the set were really great.
Sorry, this post wandered off-topic a bit!

I don't think you'll have to worry about domestics, the comic was heavily focused on the Wrarth's pursuit of the poor, innocent Meep. Pat Mills, one of the co-authors for these stories, wrote Dead London, The Scapegoat and adapted The Song of Megaptera for Big Finish if you'd like to dip your toes in the "flavour" (I suppose you could call it) of the original text.

Thanks very much Wolfie, that's very helpful! I will take those 'blurb' comments which made me hesitate with a pinch of salt then, and get my order in.
EDIT: {Spoiler} And thanks for the spoiler-free discretion but I already know exactly how innocent the Meep is.

The cover is delightfully bonkers! Tom looks a little off, though. I know it’s a composite, but the eyes and nose look like they’re from a different photo to the lips.

It's a good cover, but I think it would have been a nice touch if they'd got Dave Gibbons to do the cover.

I'm not enamoured with the cover myself. I see what they're trying for but it just doesn't quite come off. A Gibbons-like drawn cover would have been excellent. This looks...clunky.
I honestly don't care too much about this kinda stuff though. A great story would be great in a plain white cover while the worst story wouldn't be elevated by a gorgeous cover.

Agreed, I like it, but nothing else. And as you said, what matters the audio and I don’t buy these for the art, and really if people do worry so much about it that a cover will stop them purchasing something... Well I thinks that be a bit kooky, but different strokes for different folks and all that.

I bought this in Majorca back in 1986 - I think it kind of jumps out of the shelf at you - as it did at the time. I was delighted to get a Dr Who fix from a beach promenade shop. Very glossy thick card cover and spine was above the norm for DWM specials at the time too. All slightly off-set by the the choice of a back-page colour pin-up of the Sixth Doctor and Peri, totally unrelated to the rest of the publication. I would love to see this range take off, primarily to see some telesnaps style reconstructions online in the near future.... It's an opportunity waiting to happen.
