That would be a massive own goal. You could have done that a week ago but now the public have heard "Exterminate" on a trailer, they're being sold a Dalek episode. Nothing less. It makes absolute sense if it's the design they don't want people to see rather than their presence.
Eh, if it's a strong enough story, it won't matter if we don't see too much of The Daleks, teasing out Thirteen's resolve, etc. Chibnall's earnt that from the audience and it wouldn't suprise me if that was plan, creating some distance between the old and the new.

Very intrested to see the hints of series twelve's plot threads, particularly Graham and Ryan getting the taste of something nasty in The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos. Given that Chibnall has slowly been positioning The Doctor and Graham in opposition to each other (with Graham having twigged that there's something not quite right about The Doctor and that she's older then she seems), I wonder if we'll see that come to ahead here.

I know they need to build up hype for the episode, but it seems silly for them to go out of their way not to spoil that, only to spoil it a week before it airs. Why bother with the subterfuge in the first place? That's a bit 'You'll tell at some point so just tell us now'.

As I said: if it's a good enough story, if it tests Thirteen's resolve, it won't matter as much

So, like Saturdays, seems like Christmas Day is no longer such a sacred cow anymore.
When even big boys like Mrs Brown's Boys, Easties, Corrie, Midwife and Strictly can't come up to bat, we may have just dodged a belting.

To be fair, this year’s Christmas TV line-up seemed very lacklustre, so it kinda doesn’t surprise me there weren’t as many viewers as they have been in the past. Also, wasn’t Watership Down meant to be on Christmas Day? What happened to that?

The trailer has a Dalek saying "exterminate" over it. To then have an ep that has no Daleks wouldn't mean that fans were being too entitled in expecting to see them, but rather that they're looking forward to what they've been told to expect by the promotion.
Is there even a hint other than Michael's theory, that they're not in it? That - as he's done all year - Chibnall wants to show you things for the first time in the ep not the trailer? I don't think so.

It depends on how the story is handled. Sometimes, it's gratifying not to get everything that you want. If told right, the tease of it, Thirteen agasint The Daleks proper in 2020 will be enough, especially since Chibnall is focusing on the bare fundmentals for the new generation of kids. All that matters is a good story.
When was I talking about fan entitlement? Don't get where your going there.

Anyway, my words aren't gospel. But, it doesn't hurt sometimes to go off-book, narrative wise.

I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE VERY STRONG PROSPECT OF IT BEING THIRTEEN'S FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE DALEKS.

So about 9:30 last night we saw an extra(?) long commercial advertising this episode. There was a bit more talk from what I could see (was at a party last nite so the volume was down)before Doctor says the bit about the most dangerous species(?) etc.. then I definitely heard a Dalek voice.

Yep we've been seeing that one in the UK all week.. still no sight of a Mark III Travel Machine though LOL
