Someone's going to get rapped knuckles!
So it it a co-production now? And are BBC America out of the picture? (Actually, does BBC America even exist anymore?)

So it it a co-production now? No, it's just streaming rights, isn't it?

It’s not new news though, right? Wasn’t it announced a couple of years ago that it was renewed until at least Series 15? Or am I imagining that?

The HBO aspect isn't news at all, though. We discussed it in August, so nothing new there when members were worried about whether BBCA would lose the show and it turned out HBO's deal is for streaming not first-run. Here's the August story... www.cnet.com/news/doctor-who-will-stream-on-hbo-max/It's more the "Series 13 and 14 confirmed" that is interesting people, as there have been rumours in the last week the show will be rested, with the Beeb exploring options including films or specials. I don't think there's much of interest in this HBO update either as, like the China deal mentioned above, it's surely an option for HBO to have S13 and 14 if and when they are made.

I was thinking of Stephen Fry's appearance in S12 coming up.
Is he the first person to be mentioned in the show then appear in it as an actor? The Doctor said he was one of River's husbands in the 2015 Xmas special.
I thought of Richard Dawkins but he appeared in S4 in The Stolen Earth and then was mentioned in The Big Bang in S5 so he's the other way round.

In Torchwood's Greeks Bearing Gifts, Owen asks Tosh what the skeleton with the hole in the chest they've found reminds her of and she says "That scene in Alien where it comes out of John Hurt" (or something very close to that). In a similar-ish vein, I'm pretty sure the Doctor lists off the names of all the Alien movies in Dreamland, so that would surely mean that Paul McGann also exists in the Whoniverse by extension? (Then again, so must David Tennant if the Harry Potter movies exist too...)

I wonder if he erased it from his memory as seeing that Hurt guy reminded him of his days as The War Doctor. That kind of stuff would drive you mad though, following the extra media. In Army Of Ghosts we see Tracy Ann Oberman's Yvonne running Torchwood. In the same ep we see an episode of Eastenders where Peggy Mitchell is dealing with the "ghost" of Dirty Den. Den was only dead after being killed by his wife Chrissie, played by.....Tracy Ann Oberman.

In fairness, the August discussion only amounted to a few fairly brief comments, so it didn't jump back to me. The China deal I had, though I think that one was more outlined in years then specified series (I think that one went up to s13 at the time, but beyond I don't recall right now).

Shifting to a different line in the article, it does also bring up Mary Shelley again. With the photos of actors in 19th century, very Byron-y getup, it's certainly got more meat than before. Looks like, though, this and the new Cybermen are seperate stories, so we're not getting a Rise-esque remake of ST.

Anyone else get the feeling they're giving a bit too much away with these teasers?
