Paul Mcgann in his own spin-off series(The 8th Doctor Adventures) now that would be something to get excited about!!! YES but they would have bring Liv and Helen ,mark and John Heffernan with it and have it written By John Dorney and Matt or have them at the helm. But David with Lisa movie yep would have that too with Marks Master Why can't we have both? In all seriousness, I think both are amazing and deserve some TV time... that would be a dream come true...

Can confirm the artist for you, @audity. It's a chap called Hisi79, here's a wallpaper version: It's interesting to imagine what it would've been like if we'd had two duelling Doctor Who series during those Wilderness Years; one for Paul McGann and one for David Warner.

Paul Mcgann in his own spin-off series(The 8th Doctor Adventures) now that would be something to get excited about!!! Such a missed opportunity. I have never really understood why he hasn't appeared more in the revived series, or had a few spin off stand alone TV specials. He's the only classic doctor who could still pull off a proper return, even now.

I still maintain he should have been the one in the 50th special instead of John Hurt, who I felt was simply included as a gimmick.

But yes, it would still be a massive wasted opportunity not using him for the next big special.
But who knows who will be show runner at that time and if the show is still running by then...

I have a feeling that Jodie will be the last Doctor, simply because the show has run its course for now. It'll be back no doubt about it, but I think a long break is on its way in the next year or two.

I think one of the problems is that at the moment, I cannot really see another visionary or original showrunner stepping up, someone with a bold new direction. And there are already rumours floating about Chris and/ or Jodie leaving... While I like Jodie's series, for me personally something is missing, I do not love it as I did Matt Smith's or Capaldi's era... and I get the impression that others at least on this forum feel the same.

I think if Jodie left that would be it for now. I was a huge fan right til the end of the Tennant era, I didn't like Smith from his very first episode and I couldn't stand Capaldi. Jodie's series has been enjoyable in the most part but I think after 13 years the basic format is tiring, much like Audity is from old age apparently

TBH-
I am actually surprised it went on this far.
I agree with you, it might go on a break, but it will never completely disappear or die. It is too popular and to ingrained into people's minds. Not only in the UK or English speaking countries, no, even here (!!!).
I could not believe it when I was at the Vienna Comic Con 3 weeks ago and Sylvester was the most popular actor there (beating charming and good looking Andrew Scott by miles), with us waiting in the queue for 1.5 hours... and all the other people in the queue were also Whovians (Austrians and Germans mostly). And most of these people were not even in our official Vienna fanclub.
I was like- OMG, my crazy embarrassing hobby has become mainstream all of a sudden... what parallel universe is this?
So the series as a whole must be doing SOMETHING right I assume...

It's obviously hugely popular all over the world, the BBC make a fortune from it, but everything has a shelf life, and yes, I think it's just a little past that now. Jodie's female Doctor was a ploy, a gimmick to reinvent and refresh the show, has it worked? I don't think so. I like her, but she's still the Doctor travelling in the Tardis, there's not really anything completely fresh there. The Tardis is iconic, but I've said for a while it's time to mend the chameleon circuit, at least for a series or two.

I have a very strong suspicion that they're playing it safe in some aspects just to reassure people this current season is still Who. Build a rapport with the audience and a solid foundation that they can one-up themselves on later. The traits of Jodie's Doctor also feel a lot less prominent than her two predecessors. Eleven's wackiness and Twelve's anger were pushed very, very hard at the audience, but with her there's this genuine modesty that's kind of unique to the character. The thing I've noticed most prominently about her is that she's a gadget girl, she loves studying how machines work. Likes to experiment, particularly when talking with people ("Laters! Ohh... Not doing that again..."). An observer in a way that the Doctor hasn't been for a very long time. I think going into a second season that'd be the thing I'd want pushed to the front: the fact that it takes a bit of coaxing to bring her out of her shell. There's a lot going on up there, I'd just like a bit more of it out here. Which I guess counts as a success, after a fashion? I'm really interested to find out more about this incarnation.

Well, when series 11 started out, I was really happy that the TARDIS wasn't there... I had hoped for a longer (several episodes) quest to get the TARDIS back, that would have shaken up the formula a bit.
I am not sure if a functioning cameleon curcuit is all it needs to mix it up, though...
it might need a bold new direction like with the Third Doctor and UNIT back in the day.
But let's see, maybe we are wrong and the thing runs uninterupted for another 20 years...
Of course only if Brexit does not throw a spanner in the works and Britain breaks apart in chaos.... (okay, worst case scenario there)

Yes that's all very true, as I said I like her, I just wish they'd down play the use of the sonic. I'm not sure if it's Smith and Capadli I didn't like or indeed Moffat's vision of the show. I like to lose myself for an hour relax and enjoy the fun without having to think too hard, Moffat created very convoluted, drawn out, confusing plots and arcs that stretched on for weeks most of the time, I simply couldn't be bothered with it. I prefer the stand alone episodes like this season.

The basics are all there, it just needs a bit of shaking up.
And I think one thing we really desperately need- some good strong impressive memorable villains. Let's be honest- the villains so far have been a bit of a letdown. I think a good story rises and falls with the quality of it's villain...

No of course a fixed chameleon circuit isn't all it needs, but it would have been something a little unusual than what's gone before. My view on Brexit now is, the Ref was held, the UK voted to leave, respect the result, leave without a deal and then what will be will be.

I prefer the stand alone episodes like this season. And I, as the polar opposite, LOVE convoluted crazy mind- bending plots and storylines. The more complicated, the better. I absolutely adore Moffats writing. His "Day of the Doctor" novelisation is one of my favorite Who books, because it is so non-linear and convoluted (so it might not be to your taste ). That is not to say I do not enjoy one-off stories and stand alone episodes, they are great for a change, but I think I prefer epic multi- episode storylines (for example, I also really like "The War Games" as a Classic example).

Slash the Tardis team to just Graham & Ryan, 3 is too many.

Well, it is not as if there is much you could do about it, anyways. Sigh. I keep my fingers crossed for you guys in any case.
I think in future generations, this will be taken as an example of "Why you should always think before making a life changing decision". The whole thing was not thought through from the beginning (aka when the referendum was announced).
