And they're using Briggsy as the Daleks! I really want to see this somehow sanctioned by the BBC, and with the coverage maybe it is? I mean I've often watched the Loose Cannon and a certain low quality animation by a certain 'fan whom we must thank for returning missing episodes' so this third option will be nice and interesting to compare.

Hello again.
Lovely. Thanks for sharing that JohnHurtdoctor. It's a fascinating prologue to the epic Masterplan. The Daleks regained their scare factor after the rather silly Chase. That and the Varga plants brrr...

I am all in favour of this - quite a savvy idea for a student project, as i assume it is. They could potentially recoup their costs via a few screenings in a lecture hall, even before potential DVD tie-in with the Beeb is considered. Prior to these pictures, i had uncharitably imagined Peter Purves being greeted, Spinal Tap style, with miniature sets and finding out on the day, that it was to be a claymation project....

This is delightful. Looks pretty accurate too! I hope the BBC (and/or the Nation Estate) let us see the finished product...

Thanks for the clip johnhurtdoctor - I really hope we get to see this in full in some form or another. Darned good timing in relation to the Fourth Doctor Series 8 too!

I could swear I saw another (very low budget, only two or three person cast) fan film recreation at one point. Does anybody else remember that? Obviously, this looks much higher quality, although I suspect it's being blown a little out of proportion by some parts of fandom. I've already seen a few people asking if this could lead to a full recreation starring David Bradley.

It might've been in the same period as The Millennium Trap or Deconstruction. It's a bit of a blur. It was definitely in colour, though, right?

I think it was more of a remake than shot-for-shot recreation, though it still stuck to the script.

This is very interesting. I wonder how they'll put it out there if the BBC doesn't want to release it on DVD. I'm not sure they have the necessary rights to sell it themselves -- perhaps just a YouTube release like a million other fan films?
