As requested by the Electoral Commission, local elections have been postponed...for an entire year, the length of the delay is surprising

The Times has got an exclusive on the emergency powers to be brought before Parliament next week-
This is frightening.

The Times has got an exclusive on the emergency powers to be brought before Parliament next week- This is frightening. I think the key words to take out of this article are "worst case scenario" - and everything described is the worst case possible. The absolute worst. And while the Government have to quite rightly prepare for the worst scenarios, it does not mean we are there, or remotely near to getting there. On the plus side, the article does provide us with an ideal substitute for the lack of toilet rolls...💩🚽

This feels like people power leading the way. The FA postponing matches, music venues postponing gigs. The people know the risks now the government follow which in some ways makes me more hopeful.

Hello again.
This is precisely why we have a national broadcaster. It's unique funding structure means it has the resources to deal with a crisis such as this. I would add Channel 4 to the essential list too. It is able to produce shows that introduce new talent and we watch an awful lot of its outout in our family. Both have a vital role in keeping up the morale of those in isolation. It is also why they should never shut down the FM transmitters, digital radio while giving us more choice has its limitations.

This is quite the milestone. While it is totally understandable that the Government would be riding the crest of popularity at a time of a national crisis and in the case of the Corona Virus a global one, it is worth noting these figures were from five days ago...and as the old saying goes "a week is a long time in politics". Indeed as YouGov themselves point out these peaks in popularity are inevitably followed by a massive fall, and with the growing criticism of the Government's response to testing (even by pro Tory newspapers) coupled with the awful and undeniable fact that frontline NHS staff are dying because of a lack of proper PPE which has been promised for weeks...I suspect that unless they get a grip on things and soon these figures may well change in a downward direction. Time will tell.

And while we're at it, here's evidence of another ahem 'Conspiracy':
Got to have a laugh at the 'NHS_Susan' account though. Takes some level of credulity to believe it was anything other than satirical:

Hello again. I know, clear as mud. At least we have a proper opposition at last who are trying to hold Government to account. 2024 is the next opportunity to vote for a new government. Let us hope that Labour have a government in waiting that voters can identify with and that memories of the Tory administration during this crisis have not faded. Mistakes have definitely been made but would you rather have Trump or Bolsanaro in charge? Hang in there Johnhurtdoctor and keep posting any interesting articles you've found. Best wishes...
At least it doesn't say, "THE QUEST IS THE QUEST!"

What a shambles, "limit contact with other people"? What does that mean? How much time can I spend with other people? & how many people? How far can I travel to spend this undefined amount of time with this undefined number of people?
What does "actively encouraged to go to work" mean? Does it mean if you can't work from home, which is all of you working class lot, you just go back to work? What if you don't feel safe doing so? Can the government stop paying your wages? Can your employer sack you?
This government are now not only inept but dangerous! They are basically still pursuing herd immunity in all but name.

Time for a revival of that old Graffiti classic:
Be Alert. Your Country needs Lerts.
