Finally got around to listening through Dracula's Guests. Not sure what took me so long, I loved Dracula and was very excited about this when it was announced.
Good, definitely enjoyable, but for me it didn't quite live up to Dracula. I don't mean that as a particularly scathing criticism--if Dracula is a 10/10, Guests is still a 7.5/10--but a bit of a step down just the same. Acting, directing, sound design, and especially the music were all good.

Do you have to listen to the other releases to understand this or is it a separate story?

Do you have to listen to the other releases to understand this or is it a separate story? I'd say say yes ironically Guests is more important than the Original to the overall narrative Regards mark687

What's the correct order for the episodes? The app has them in the order of The Convent, The Forest, and The Madhouse. The download on PC has them at The Convent, The Madhouse, and the Forest.

Well, The Convent is excellent. Full of surprises, dripping with atmosphere and ...
{Spoiler} ... no Dracula (yet)!

The Madhouse strays a little too much from the style of the original material from time to time, but things are hotting up nicely, especially toward the end. This is very much a story featuring all relevant players being put in place for the finale - but having said that, Jonathan Barnes is far from predictable!

I listed to the entire trilogy in order: Guests, Dracula, War. I'm so glad I did it that way. I had forgotten about certain character's arcs and it made for an excellent full blown story for these characters. I could feel how much Jonathan Barnes likes the character of Mina Harker in these stories. She's written so well and Deirdre Mullens brings her to life as someone with such clarity of purpose. Good listen!

So I know nothing about this range other than the fact that Mark Gatiss is in it as Dracula. Which, honestly, is almost reason enough. But I've gotta ask, do these stories frame Dracula as an antihero/villain protagonist, or do they tend to be more about the people opposing Dracula?

{Spoiler} ... the latter, much as in the way of much of the novel. Although in new ways, and with new characters.

Is Dracula Quincey's bio-dad? This was what I was most curious about, but none of the reviews have mentioned it. .
