The Cradle of the Snake (Marc Platt) Story might not be brilliant but it’s just really fun to hear Peter Davison go all out in terms of his performance. He is brilliant in that story isn’t he?!😃🐍

Continued my MR relisten over the past several days after my post-Zagreus break. The Wormery is delightful in a way that's hard to explain. It just captures me so much Scherzo is just outstanding in every possible way. Terrifying and beautiful all at once. Creed of the Kromon is fine? I guess? It's not amazing but it's a serviceable story with some absolutely disgusting body horror that I do not enjoy. The Natural History of Fear is an out and out classic. It's phenomenal. The Twilight Kingdom is... not awful but not great. It's overwhelmingly meh. The Axis of Insanity is one I really enjoy on concept alone. It doesn't perfectly commit to it but I really like it. Arrangements for War is a masterpiece and the finale of the Break Evelyn trilogy. It's one of the greatest DW stories ever. The Harvest allows Hex to enter and show exactly what he's all about, as well as being a really cool Cyberman story on top of it. The Roof of the World is weird. It always merges with The Axis of Insanity in my head for some reason. It's a mindf**k of a story on its own. Faith Stealer is one of my favorites of the Divergent Universe Arc. It's so much fun and things like the Church of Serendipity is a concept straight out of Season 17. The Last is darkness done right. It's pure misery but that pure misery has a point. Caerdroia is so much fun. It's one of my favorites. The Three Eights interplay is a highlight of the entire Eighth Doctor MR and the cows scene is one of my favorites in all of DW. Got to love the cow scene!

The Next Life brings us back to the boredom. The amount of dull padding that doesn't even matter in the end just... ugh. There's a salvageable story in this but 3 discs was too much.

This morning - the third and fourth stories in The Eighth of March boxset. While the casting for this has been terrific, for me the stories so far have unfortunately been less so. Hopefully that will change with the Big Finish debut of the Paternosters and an investigation for Kate & the two Osgoods..
This afternoon - Counter Measures Series 2.

For me the UNIT story was the best of the set and maybe my favorite UNIT story overall. And this although I had expected to like it the least in the set. Still came out on top. They really should do more with Zygon Osgood. That has such potential.

Regeneration Impossible. I think Jake's Capaldi still has a touch of a cold, lol, but I really enjoyed that. It worked quite well for me as an Eleventh and Twelfth Doctor story rather than an Eleventh Doctor and Hey You're Not Him story, lol, plus the story was quite good and kept me guessing. What more could I want especially for a pittance? Mission Accomplished, and well done!

Finished the "Iron Legion" of the Comic strip adaptations. This really is completely bonkers and not supposed to be taken seriously. At least it is a fun distraction. For a bit more seriousness, I am now re-listening to the War Doctor stories. First up- Only the Monstrous. Great soundtrack for painting up my Warhammer miniatures.

I just listened to the comic strip adaptations too 😁they are extremely silly!😄 I will be curious how you like The Star Beast🤔 it’s equally silly, a bit like ET meets Gremlins but set in Yorkshire!😁 Or alternatively Lilo and Stitch up North!

Starborn (Jacqueline Rayner)
I liked it. Had a strange ethereal quality to it that I can’t quite explain or pin down. Felt like the sort of story that could only have been told in the Hartnell era.

The Legacy of Time : Collision Course. The multi Doctors part is pure fluff but the best kind of fluff for me. Hearing the Doctor joking together is just pure fun. {Spoiler} The Tenth Doctor cameo is still awesome and very heartwarming. I can't wait to see how he interacts with a classic Doctor. With the exception of Time Crash this will be the first time a classic Doctor and a NuWho Doctor will meet and I can't wait.

Hello again. Thoughts on Night Thoughts... Well, listening to it at night is not recommended. It is a macabre tale, with a creepy atmosphere and interesting story. The worse thing is working out what is going to happen before the characters do and waiting nervously for the unavoidable jump scare. The whole adventure being in audio was worse than perhaps seeing on it screen. Your imagination creates more scary pictures in your head than the tv. I love the dynamic between Ace and Hex. Hex is such a vital contrast to Ace's battle-hardened cynicism. He is so ordinary and Philip Olivier plays him perfectly. Apparantly, this was one of the scripts under consideration for season 27. Really? There is no way this could have gone out at 19:35 on a Monday night. This is a dark and bleak story, but very well done and you pick up so much on subsequent listenings. It was indeed a script for Season 27 (or possibly earlier) and would have been heavily edited or amended to get on TV at that time. I do wonder what version we would have seen - Hex would not have been there for a start. I always wished that BF had adapted Illegal Alien as well (I know we had the BBC Book) but their take on this would have been good as this was also a Season 27 offering.

Sync (Lisa McMullin)
Don’t know why no one ever seems to talk about this one. Not sure if it was properly received or not but I’ve always loved the dynamic and sheer brilliant choice of pairing of Margaret Blaine and Suzie Costello.
Definitely one of Lisa McMullin’s better scripts compared to the fever dream and sheer insanity that was The Famished Lands.

It felt like a Fourth Doctor day so I listened to "Wave of Destruction" and "The Labyrinth of Buda Castle", both highly enjoyable.

I preferred Moving Target but everything with Suzie in it is a must listen for me. Now if only we could get a series 0 adventure with Jack, Ianto, Owen, Tosh and Suzie... Indira Varma is such a good actress and needs to do more audios.
