It's a very "wordy" series, it's great ! If I wasn‘t so tired I would answer with a lot of amazing aspiring alliterations to that. I love it! This series is a BF highlight. I still consider it the best spin off of Doctor Who. But if you’re enjoying Jago and Litefoot, then may I suggest The Spring Heel Saga by the Wireless Theatre Company? Has a very similar tone to it when it comes to Victorian investigators.

Let me google that.... I am very much into that stuff- comedy supernatural investigators. Scarifyers, Wellington Paranormal, Jago and Litefoot.... I am all over this.

Some ones I caught up on while on holiday:
No Man's Land - solid historical with a strong villain and some disturbing imagery. The Settling - usually like Guerrier, but doing a Spooner with Cromwell's invasion of Ireland didn't lead to great results. Cromwell especially comes off as a little too silly here, though the framing device with Hex and Ace had some nice moments. The Shapes of Things to Come - good little time bending tale.

Last night I finally went through my backlog list (yes, I have a list..), rearranged it into range and date order (yes, I know..) and was left a bit embarrassed by how badly I've let taking "time out to listen" slide this past year and a bit.
So, if I am going to tackle this properly it means channelling my inner Julie Andrews (shut up and go with it..) and start from the very beginning, because that really is a very good place to start.. (🤦♂️). That means the Stockbridge trilogy from the Monthly Adventures - Castle of Fear, The Eternal Summer and Plague of the Daleks.
After all, its only been nearly (*checks notes twice*) eight years since I purchased Plague..(😳)

Finishing up Geronimo. I've had mixed feelings throughout the Chronicles series (Enjoyed some of the 9th and 10th Dr sets, didn't love any of the previous 11 sets, liked Timejacked). This one is brilliant. Can't believe it took this long to do a proper run with Dudman as 11, that's where he really shines as a Doctor actor.

Listening to audios is something I rarely do because, as someone whose English is his fourth language, I sometimes struggle to understand them (mostly accents but sometimes different things). I need to focus especially as Big Finish mostly don't release scripts. I rather listen to the podcast or read vortex.
While audiobooks 100% depend on their reader, audio dramas are more tricky, some easy, others I never succeed to finish. In the last seven years, I listened to around 50 stories (primarily first doctor stories and short trips), with my favourite being "O Tannenbaum". So I decided to randomly listen to one story from Big Finish every week. The only condition is that, for now, the only single-reader stories I would listen to are short trips.
The first: The Avengers: The Comic Strip Adaptations Volume 04: Steed & Mrs Peel 1. "Listen Hear..." Good story. I understood it and succeeded in visualising most of it in my mind. There were some points of what? And why? But it's ok, and the thing I like the most is that the guest stars, even with their fake "foreign" accents, were very clear to me. Jessica Martin and Marek Oravec stood out, obviously with Julian Wadham. And satisfying ending 8.47/10

English is a foreign language for me too (I am German), but by now I have such a huge vocabulary that puts my US uncle to shame and I can effortlessly tell different accents apart. All thanks to years of listening to Big Finish.

OMG. I am glad I am doing this Jago and Litefoot re-listen. Volume 7 has this fantastic story about the destructive power of depressions. I know that "Depression as Monster" is an old hat (just look at Harry Potter Dementors) but this story gives a wonderful opportunity for all the actors to act their hearts out. Fantastic performances. Having suffered from depressions before, I congratulate them on the story here.

You know those stories where, even just a few minutes in, you can tell -- you can just feel it, taste it -- that it's gonna be something great? That you're gonna go through the full runtime smiling, because every scene is just perfect? I'm in the middle of that right now. Gotta say, the other Brewster stories were... fine. Just fine. But The Crimes of Thomas Brewster? Oh man. It's incredible. I'm loving every second.
But it's also kind of unpleasant, enjoying the story this much, all the while knowing I only have three more MRs with Evelyn left to listen to....

"The Forsaken", proving once again that the second Doctor, Ben, Polly and Jamie are the best TARDIS team.
