Today's itinerary.
The Gates of Hell, Empire of the Racnoss, Lant Land and The Nightmare Country.
With any luck, I'll be able to squeeze in a view of Frontios as well.

"The Blooming Menace" accompanied my workout.
It is simply awesome that Chris seems to love this. I do want to hear him in more 2h deals.

I must say your going at a good pace, are you enjoying it? Regards mark687 I've usually got a story on the go while I'm driving, gaming or working with my hands. I've been enjoying the run for the most part, listening to everything chronologically gives everything a real sense of forward momentum in the listening I do. There are times it feels like a slog (season 1 took absolutely forever to get through). It hurts some stories though, releases like Circular Time and Piscon Paradox suffer a bit from being broken up to fit in their respective places, and something like Seven to One are almost frustrating in this approach. Other stories like, Forty or say The 5 Doctors get doubled up a few times given the temporal shenanigans in the story. But I will say, it's very interesting watching the Doctor Who universe unfold like this, every time one of the new monsters comes along, it's another toy in the toybox for the universe to play with. Or reaching the stories with wide ranging consequences, something like The Daleks' Master plan impacting the 4DA season 8, Daughter of the Gods and Dalek Universe. It helps give a sense of depth to the Doctor Who universe. It's a fun, if very time consuming way to trawl the whoniverse, but it's rewarding in it's own way. Plus with 1100+ releases in my account, it at least makes sure I'm not listening to the same handful of stories over and over again.

Today's plan.
For my driving to and from work War Doctor: He Who Fights With Monsters, I've been itching to hear this one for some time now.
At work, I'll be listening to Time in Office, and when I hit the Gym tonight, I'll be feasting on the diet of worms.

Just polishing up Excelis Decays, onto Forty 2 for the rest of the night.
Excelis is a much less painful experience this time around, though not getting tattooed this time helps.
Forty 2 has been a delight each time I’ve listened to it. Tim Foley really did an excellent job with this one. If I was still collecting physical versions of the stories I enjoyed, this would be at the top of the list.

Bernice Summerfield- Angel of History. One of the most powerful stories ever written for Big Finish. I have so far only managed to listen to it twice. It is so emotionally draining. And it is as acute today as ever. It has lost nothing of its power, and made me again cry very long and hard. But what I love about it especially is the message of the Doctor at the end. They might have buried their dark secrets and evil might have won. But skeletons cannot be hidden in the closet forever. "Get up and dig!"

Well, thanks to a certain someone, I am now listening to Bernice Summerfield: The Story So Far Volume 1, which I picked up just last month so, by rights, it ought to have been at the bottom of my backlog. Ah well, c'est la viv. I am currently at the halfway point. I'll probably have more nuanced thoughts on it when I'm done (or maybe not) but, for now, my immediate reaction is that this is probably the best example I've come across of how a boxset can be a bad idea.
Mostly because both stories are good, and if they were offered separately I'd have very little to say, but bundled together the tonal whiplash between the first and second is... sever. And not just tone, but structure and style.
I really loved the first story -- one of my favorite Benny stories so far-- so I wound up leaving the second story disappointed, while also realizing that if it were just a regular episodic release I'd be perfectly happy with it -- a 4.5/5, easily.

The Story So Far 2 - Every Dark Thought
Quite a small scale story that floats some interesting notions about the Valeyard’s pursuit of immortality.

Things have now escalated. Benny Binge! Benny Binge! Benny Binge! Update: got through all 6 Stories So Far, all of The Gods Of The Underworld, and also managed to relisten to Asking For A Friend, just because. Wanted to get through the Missing Persons boxset, too, but wound up sleeping instead.

Today's listening, quite a list up ahead.
For the drive to work The Horror and the Master of Dorian Gray.
The Horror was an excellent finish to a fantastic box set, and Master of Dorian Gray is very good, but I think The Adventure of the Deceased Doctor was the stronger offering.
At work, I'll be listening to Wicked Sisters, Peri and the Piscon Paradox and Circular Time: Winter.
For the drive home, I have The World Tree lined up.
Some very good listening today, It's interesting listening to the twilight of the Fifth Doctor, though I am starting to feel that the gap between Planet of Fire and The Caves of Androzani is almost overstuffed at this point.
