I've only listened to it once, but Lords Of The Red Planet was a masterpiece, The Maltese Penguin though not on the same level as The Holy Terror was quite fun, and The Company Of Friends (especially Mary's Story and Fitz's Story) remains one of my favourite 8th Doctor releases. Is Lords of the Red Planet considered underrated? I thought it was fantastic, and pretty sure I bought it on the basis of good ratings. Also enjoyed The Company of Friends. Would love more Fitz. As far as The Maltese Penguin and The Holy Terror, I love me some Frobisher. All hail the big talking bird!

As far as The Maltese Penguin and The Holy Terror, I love me some Frobisher. All hail the big talking bird! I've said it probably half a dozen times before, but yes more Fitz please! Probably my favorite companion overall (in part because he is so reluctant to be one), I'm still working my way through the BBC EDA's and I'm rationing them as there is no more Anji and Fitz to come... Lords Of The Red Planet got a good reception here, but I was browsing old threads on GB earlier and noticed the reviews were rather more mixed, one thing we can all agree on is how brilliant Hines Troughton voice is, at points it sounded exactly the same it was like listening to a 60's soundtrack... I've often wondered if Frobisher would be as popular if his usual form wasn't a penguin...''All Hail The Big Talking Dog'' would make me think of Clifford... *Edit, my 1000th post!

I never look on GB when I'm looking for reviews. Usually here, the old archived forum, and The **** ******. Sometimes, if I can't get enough info that way, I'll google reviews. I also check some of the blogs of our own forum members who do reviews.

Apparently the Novel Adaptations might be underrated since in the latest podcast Nick is citing poor sales since Love & War in their discontinuation. Also some of the Lost Stories might be underrated? - I'm certainly fond enough of the Fourth, Seventh, and for the most part the early Doctor stories, as well as others from that range.

I wonder, perhaps the reputation of the Virgin books spoke louder than the size of their fanbase?, they seem popular with certain groups of fans, but just how popular can a run of adaptations of 20 year old hard to find books, aimed at fans be in comparison with ongoing new stories with the actual actors aimed at a wider audience? When you can often find the books online quite cheap anyway... I wonder if adaptations of the EDA's would have be more successful because the 8th Doctor doesn't have a TV continuity for people to prioritize...

Nocturne, this little gem by Dan Abnett often gets overlooked.

Nocturne, this little gem by Dan Abnett often gets overlooked. I'm not familiar with any of Abnett's Who work but I'm a huge fan of his Warhammer 40k fiction (The Eisenhorn/Ravenor trilogies and the Gaunts Ghosts series), maybe I'll check his audios out if they are ever on sale, I'd be very excited if Bf ever approached him to write a War Doctor story...

The fact that the Big Finish Doctor Who audios are only a niche market in fandom makes me believe that all of it is under rated! There are so many great Doctor Who stories yet some Doctor Who fans choose to ignore the Big Finish audios. But, for me anyway, there are a lot of BF Doctor Who stories that are as good as, if not better than, a lot of what passes for Doctor Who on the TV these days... and yes, even better than some of the old stuff too!

He's currently writing for DC, including Titans (which follows the adult characters who were Teen Titans) and Aquaman (leave Super Friends-based expectations at the door).

Not really a comic guy, but I've been waiting for The Warmaster (Gaunt's Ghosts No 14) for more than four years now....

I guess my problem is I don't know what is underrated and what isn't. Underrated in relation to what? There are audios that I might like more than other people and audios I might like less than most people. I don't feel like it makes the productions either over or under rated. Anyway.

He also co-wrote a great run of Guardians of the Galaxy several years ago that was a big inspiration for a certain Marvel Films blockbuster of the same name.

I've got that lined up to read (finished Drax the Destroyer and onto the prologue before the four tie-in minis).

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I'm with you on that: I picked up a copy of The English Way Of Death last year at a book sale and marveled at my good fortune at finding a copy of a "classic" novel. I'd heard lots about it, there was the play just being released... and I was a little underwhelmed: which possibly means that it captured Season 17 perfectly, in some circles. Sometimes we forget that Classic Who is still regarded as a cult programme in some circles: my boss is a massive fan of the new series (and, when she asked how big a fan I was, knew enough to laugh at my "Well, I married a Sarah Jane" joke) but regards the old show as a bit of a lame duck that limped through its history. I know it shouldn't matter so long as the story is fine but "adaptation of spin-off media" has a hint of the obsessive fan about it. </controversial opinions>

I think Annihilation kicked off the whole restart of the cosmic part of the MU. I know Annihilation was release around the same time as the original Civil War event. It's funny, actually. Rich has just returned in the Nova title and we've just had Civil War II (aka Minority Report 2: Inhuman Bugaloo). When filled in on recent events by the Champions team he's depressed to note that the superhero community has again been fighting among themselves.

I've found the second season of the Divergent arc to be a generally very good set of stories with a very disappointing finale.
