Indeed. There are (of course) parts that I like, such as the 'attack on the space station' music, but at times it does feel a bit of a 'chore' to watch... On an unrelated note, tonight it's 'Timelash' part 1's turn [br I haven’t seen Timelash, I have heard it’s umm....interesting 🤔 😁 Even Colin calls this "Not really a classic".

If 'The Two Doctors' is your guilty pleasure, 'Timelash' is probably one of mine...

Masque of Mandragona
(Still an average-ish story but the Blu-Ray makes the location filming look really good)

The War Games
A terrific finale for one of the Classic series greatest Doctors.
As much as I am curious about how Big Finish will handle Series 6B adventures (if such rumours are even true) I really hope it doesn’t end up invalidating the War Games in the process as a finale for the Second Doctor.

Masque of Mandragona (Still an average-ish story but the Blu-Ray makes the location filming look really good) Regards mark687 I think Philip Hinchcliffe said that The Masque of Mandragora was one of his favourites. I think. I'm not sure where that memory's come from, it might be the Philip Hinchcliffe Presents boxsets, but if accurate -- I can definitely see it. That's the story I'd choose to represent the standard of the era. The best of the best here. Those needing an extra pass here. And Masque in the middle. The lighting was done by Dennis Channon who'd later go on to do all the loveliness for Vengeance on Varos, so it's got some of the more colourful, painterly studio sets for the Helix's Renaissance skullduggery.

It's great as a time capsule too. I like that we can get a sense of what a particular part of the country or the world looked like in a particular time. Sometimes it can be radically different now to how it appeared back then or just missing altogether.

Face the Raven
Brilliant episode with amazing premise and setting but a bit torture to rewatch for me because I hate that 12 has to loose his soulmate to recklessness 😢 Again an episode that is brilliant but horribly sad as well that I tend to avoid because I always cry at the end! *sighs* I wish 12 and Clara were not so doomed!
Next Heaven Sent and Hell Bent
Side Note: even though the last half of this trilogy, Hell Bent gets a lot of hate, I did not hate it the last time I watched it 🤔I think people just get upset about it because they were hoping for a big epic Gallifrey story. It was never meant to be about Gallifrey in the first place is it was meant to be about 12 and Clara’s relationship. I get why people wanted a big Gallifrey epic but I think even if its a bit of a messy episode there is interesting character drama. I will see how I feel about the episode this time around though
Side note: I will need tissues!

But I dislike how they did a deus ex machina on Clara and de-valued her death. I dislike how they used "Ashildr". And I absolutely despise the Doctor grabbing a gun and shooting down the general. And as you know, I never was into any Doctor/ companion shipping, so this just felt totally unnecessary.

That’s fair enough🤷🏻♀️ it’s a very decisive episode that not everyone’s cup of tea, a bit like the Timeless Children in a way🤔 People either seem to love or hate it 🤔 I’ve only watched Hell Bent one time because it made me too sad towards the end. I will be curious if I love it, hate it, or in between this time around. From what I remember I thought it was a very messy episode that had some not so great stuff, but some interesting (if upsetting) character drama as well. That’s just me though (I have slightly odd Whovian tastes sometimes)🤔🤷🏻♀️😉

Even though I think you could do solo adventures with the Second Doctor or with new companions without resorting to making Series 6B. Not to mention The Black Hole already explained it so why bother?

Yeah, I don't really get it either since they already went out of their way to give their own explanation. I guess Troughton never had a companionless gap on TV, but assuming they'd cast Frazer Hines in the role, they might as well have Jamie anyway, so what's the difference? If I have one big criticism of BF's storytelling it's that sometimes it's better to just leave something alone but they don't. And 6B seems like one of those things to me.

Deadly Assassin
(All this lacks is a re-dub of dialogue by Geoffrey Beavers in place of Peter Pratt and this story would be 10/10 instead of Borusa's 9/10.)

My nephew can stomach all sorts of horror stories and much of Doctor Who's most gruesome moments. However, the Image of the Fendahl story has always been something that has scared him. Something about that skull, and those horrible glowing eyes. So tonight, we're watching Image of the Fendahl. I never was a very good Uncle.

I remember a Sunday lunchtime after one of the episodes and my Mother was making the beds, so me and my Brother wrapped ourselves in the Duvets and crawled along the landing, inspired by the Fendahleen creatures. We were six and seven at the time, so it wasn't quite cosplay....

Warriors of the Deep - Absolute trainwreck of a story that would be funny if it weren't so excruciating. Mr Polly says he actually likes the Myrka and thinks it's a good costume. Strange man.

Regards mark687 I remember episode 3 at the time and was confused, as it wasn't Doctor Who after the opening titles, but still had Tom Baker in it and there was no dialogue. I could not recognise it and thought someone had switched over.... I bought the VHS 'Time Lords' WH Smith set from a second hand bookshop in town a few years back (even though I had the individual releases) for about a tenner. Checking them at home afterwards, I found out that they had been signed by Phillip Madoc (War Games), Nicholas Courtney (Three Doctors) and Bernard Horsfall (Deadly Assassin), plus the tapes were still shrink wrapped. Considering they had the Invisible Enemy signed by Michael Sheard behind the counter at a premium, it looks like they should have checked before putting it on sale. Must have been a while back, as he also had the first Dr Who annual behind the counter for £20 and asked me to make him an offer, but I turned it down as I had a copy already. Bad decision. Wonder what they are going for now (intact spine and all).
