It’s a crime that 12 and Clara never went ballroom dancing. It would have been the perfect way to show 12’s progress with physical touch as well as show off the romantic angle in a way that is subtle. Also 12 looks amazing in tux and Clara would really work a ball gown. There are many kinds of stories where this could have happened. This needs to happen in a story with BF with Capaldi and Coleman 😊

how would you rewrite Kill the moon out of curiosity? I think the astrophysicists out there would probably try to tell us that the events in the story could be truly disastrous for the earth, so it seems like somebody needs to play the Deus ex Machina and keep the earth on an even course during the changes. It could be a good old planet-towing TARDIS (or maybe even the Starship Enterprise with a tractor beam, lol). Usually I picture powerful but peaceful alien visitors who come to witness these extremely rare spectacles - but as responsible tourists, it's part of their custom to prevent the global disasters that could go with them, which helps ensure that there'll be something there to see the next time.

Omg all of those! If I ever get to write for Capaldi and Coleman for BF one day I hope they let me play up the romantic elements just a little bit 😊 If 12 and Clara recreated the Lady and the Tramp scene you know they would get interrupted or realize what was about to happen at the very last minute! Tunnel of love I could see only they get stuck inside the ride, with 12 making excuses while blushing that it wasn’t romantic he just liked the boat ride. Fireworks display I actually have in mind for a very significant and epic story I would love to write one day with 12 and Clara, that starts at New Year’s Eve and possibly ends at New Year’s Eve. Someday I hope to write it for BF but I will need a lot more practice and experience before I can properly pull it off. Definitely afternoon coach ride! With it being very fairytale and possibly 12 bringing along his guitar. Yes definitely slow car cruise through the Rivera or Peninsula, in a convertible! A few more to add: Ice skating and then drinking hot chocolate by a fireplace. Taking a gondola ride through Venice. Tango dancing. Masked ball! Getting temporarily turned into merpeople and having an underwater date.

I don't think the Doctor should have romantic relationships with companions, other than other Time Lords (like Romana) or people like River (who's sort of a Time Lord). To me it seems really weird that someone who is several centuries old would want to be in a relationship with someone in their 20s-30s, and - more importantly - a different species.

I believe that some stories - and other Sci-Fi authors - have explored the issues regarding relationships where there are massive differences in lifespans - and also in cases where one partner may suddenly change their 23rd chromosome and thus the entire dynamic of the partnership.

I can understand them doing it with Rose, I think it worked for the target audience but to repeat it might be a mistake.

I did like the very tiny suggestions that Romana 2 and Doctor 4 might have had a little something going on (in front of the camera, as opposed to behind it). Skipping through Paris hand in hand is a very romantic thing; the 'you are wonderful' lines in 'State of Decay' hinted at something stronger than admiration. The romance between The Doctor and Rose was odd, but succeeded because of the way it was played, I think.

Completely disagree, the romances between the Doctor and humans are kind of beautiful because they love each other despite their differences in age and species! To be honest I find the Doctors romances with humans far more interesting than with River. It kind of annoys me when people say that the Doctor can only be with River because of species and age, as though the Doctor can’t see beyond that. I find that romances like 12 and Clara are much more compelling to me, because their love transcends normal human love and goes to a deeper level. 12 and Clara are true equals and soulmates in spite of superficial differences like age and species. To me that is beautiful.

If Clara hadn’t died, brought back and become immortal, I could 100% see 12 considering becoming human in order to be with her. 12 did after all talk about “someone you can’t bare to loose” in The Girl Who Died and in Last Christmas, Clara told 12 there was one man other than Danny she would marry but he was impossible right before kissing 12 on the cheek outlined by a heart. Also 12 progressively becomes more human under Clara’s influence. Sidenote: I still think 12 may have tried being human at some point for Clara, we just didn’t see that story onscreen.

By deleting the script wholesale as soon as it was drafted (I studied astrophysics) On a side note I happened to chat to an astronomer who works at Greenwich Observatory; let's just say Kill the Moon is not his favourite episode!

While I don't get the 12 + Clara idea (please don't try to persuade me) I'm totally sold on Lucifer's romance with Chloe Decker in Lucifer and that crosses all the gaps you list above. Love crossing gaps is a huge engine for good drama (Romeo & Juliet being a well-worn example). The best love stories in fiction always cross a boundary somewhere.

A thought just struck me given Today's release announcement The Year of Hell or of Martha Jones should not have happen/ worked.
All the Master had to do was tweak the Archangel Network Signal to say "Everything's Ok" when the Toclafane turn up but because he doesn't, and then conscripts the workforce doubt is allowed to grow in peoples minds and Martha is therefore able to convey the stories of the Doctor to receptive audiences whose thoughts later restore the Doctor via said Network.

A moment I hope BF doesn’t forget exists when they eventually get Capaldi and Coleman. It would be wrong and an enormous missed opportunity to not recognize and expand on this subtext between 12 and Clara: Sidenote: I didn’t imagine it, its real 😊

Nightmare of Eden is one of the most eminently watchable serials in Classic Who.
