They did recently mention (Vortex? Podcast?) that BF would like to do a story with the 80s-era Cybermen, which was excellent news but I didn't expect it to be so literally true. Hope it is so, the Earthshock/Five Doctors version are my favourites and it would be really great to have the original actors return; the specific voice performances were very important for those Cybermen. EDIT: I see Mark was in first with the 'excellent' joke -then my post has become like his......998, 999, 1000 posts. Congrats on the milestone. I wonder if it's a 4DA coming up? That Earthshock Cyberleader did seem to recognise the Doctor... Cheers Wolfie! I think all Cybermen know the Doctor, they probably have collective nightmares about him while they're plugged in recharging... Wasn't it the TARDIS the Cyberleader recognised on their scanner (it's a while since I watched Earthshock)? Then he ran through the faces they knew, found that 'pleasant, open' wasn't among them and so concluded the Doctor must have regenerated again. But yes it could have been personal and another Fourth Doctor encounter with them would be great. It's going to be quite a Cyber-year already but there's always room for another one imo!

More the merrier when it comes to Cyber-stories for me. Yep, it was definitely the TARDIS, so there's plenty of wiggle room there. I love the delivery of that line, he says it with exactly the same tone as: "Oh, Christ, not again..."

Wait, we still only have one Dark Shadows release scheduled for this year, while it's starting to sound like Big Finish is considering doing audios of the failed TV series Class?
Are my sensors overdue for recalibration or am I beginning to detect a minor distortion in priorities?

Are my sensors overdue for recalibration or am I beginning to detect a minor distortion in priorities? Barrel bottom scraping of the new series was bound to lead on to Class audios at some stage... if not at this time, it will surely be on the Big Finish agenda at some stage. In all fairness though, Doctor Who will always be a bigger priority for Big Finish than Dark Shadows, so milking their license is not a distortion of priorities, it's just business. As with Class being an official Doctor Who spin off more audios from the 'Worlds of Doctor Who' will certainly have an audience among some Big Finish fans should Big Finish go down that road and produce Class audios.

I never watched Class as wasn't sure what age of viewer it was aimed at, though I would listen to new stories by BF. Was it family friendly or more for older teenagers? Older Teenagers Definitely!

Any 13 year old has seen a lot more explicit material than Class...though I think a younger audience would be bored more than traumatised.....and I liked Class

Well, the DVD is a 15 so the BBFC don't agree I dunno, kids see far worse on Netflix. By the time I'd left primary we'd all seen 18s like the Freddys, Robocop, Terminator et al. There's nothing in Class as explicit as those and the sex wasn't explicit or gratuitous. I agree Mary Whitehouse wouldn't have dug it but I don't think there's much in it that's too much for younger teens apart from the plots and stories.

We could debate its sensibilities forever I viewed it as Grange Hill meets Stephen King, an Ok original concept but it was set in Whoverse which didn't suite it IMO.

I am not a fan of Adric, in large part because he came along at the time that both Tom Baker and myself lost interest in Doctor Who.
However after hearing him in the Fifth Doctor boxset and having had so many stories with Leela and Romana, plus with the knowledge that the Fourth Doctor is getting a new companion next year, I find myself interested in the thought of having some adventures with the Fourth Doctor and Adric.

From the new DWM: River Song 5 features not one, but four Masters - Michelle Gomez, Geoffrey Beevers, Derek Jacobi and Eric Roberts Holy ****!!!!!!!!!! That's amazing news! Wait, does that mean they sorted out the rights to The Movie then?!?!?!? Not Clear
As of last year there were comments were made to the effect of Grace and Chaing Lee are still owned by FOX but the Master should be alright IF a deal could be done with Eric Roberts reps"

Holy ****!!!!!!!!!! That's amazing news! Wait, does that mean they sorted out the rights to The Movie then?!?!?!? I think because the Master is from the original series, I'm assuming there's no issue with including Eric Roberts as the Master, given that the BBC probably owns the rights? I think the rights issue is more with Grace and Chang Lee, given that they were original characters in the TVM, so I think Fox or whoever owns the rights to them. Holy ****!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness the word is out. Being coy about information is so tiring.

That’s an odd use of the word ‘normally’. Tennant and Tate recorded in October, I think it was. With busy actors there’s unlikely to be a standard week. So it’s not, basically.
