From one of the week's recording sessions apparently
(IF its from Today that means 5 Days straight 3rd Doc recording number13) Regards
mark687 As it should be. *Nods wisely* What else could possibly be more important to record than 3DAs?? (Maybe two volumes a year from now?? Let's hope so. Exciting news, cheers Mark! )

It could also be Torchwood news, UNIT news, the original series Nick is creating for BF, a new license, more HG Wells adaptations, The Prisoner Vol 3, Captain Scarlet or other Gerry Anderson stuff, details on the Eighth Doctor in the next Charley set... best not to jump to conclusions. I don't think any of them would be 'trust me, news you don't want to miss' levels of hype. I doubt they would tease it if it's not something big; the last two times they made announcements of exciting news in advance of said news it was David Tennant. The problem you run into is their idea of something "big" doesn't match up to your expectation of "big." So if it isn't Matt Smith, then it is a disappointment to you. I would make the case that anything that ties into 20 of producing a range of stories is a big deal to Big Finish as is Big Finish being around for 20 years.

How is it being deliberately obtuse? I think it's perfectly reasonable to conclude that exciting news must be something exciting rather than the type of announcements they usually make without any hype. And here you go. What Big Finish considers exciting and something no one should miss hearing about and what you consider exciting and something no one should miss hearing about are probably two different things. Not all the time. I was right about 10DA Volume 2 last year.

So guys, how about the 3rd Doctor meeting up with Kate Stewart and today's UNIT, that is pretty cool. Right?

I didn't presume everything was, only when there was something like this teasing an exciting announcement you'd want to see news of from Big Finish's Facebook page first. Why would you need to see things that have already been mentioned on BF's FB page before anywhere else when you already know they're happening, just not confirmed?

I have no idea but I would be very surprised if it is something with Matt Smith. Pleasantly so but still very, very surprised. I wouldn't. Matt Smith's no longer filming The Crown, and his Hollywood career bombed after he made a string of poor choices. The hardest thing for BF with Matt Smith would be which companions would be available for him to be paired with. Just to clarify, Matt Smith's career had a bit of a rocky start but The Crown is pretty much the show that will save him from being type-cast. He's definitely earned a few years of goodwill from producers on the back of it, even if everything he does from here on out is garbage. (That's not to say he might not record some things with BF between other projects, as it's not like David Tennant is begging for work, but still...)

Or it might be Dark Shadows Bloodlust, the multiple Bennie anniversary releases, Third Doctor Adventures going twice yearly, the next War Master, the next Ninth Doctor Chronicles, Dalek Empire 5: The Time War, A Midsummer's Night's Dream as the next Big Finish Classic, the Early Adventures, Hinchcliffe Presents, The Paternoster Gang... It does sort of sound like there might be multiple announcements and maybe that's what's so exciting (hence their sounding like they might expecting to be able to outdo that old school chum for news feeds?) rather that just one big huge massively stupendous announcement like Eccleston, Smith or Capaldi already. Either way, with so many possibilities, it should be great fun finding out. :-)

This is how shinyford spent today
I'm Not jealous Honest
(and I'm sure whatever was recorded is going to be be great)
Regards
mark687 Jamie, Ben and Leela??! Is there a BF 20th super-special on the way and can I just pre-order it now please? EDIT: And of course, Benny and the Second Doctor are also sitting at that table - many possibilities, all of them enticing! My original thoughts were, "A Jamie and Ben Companion Chronicle?" (This year's set is a 2nd Doctor one) "And Louise is directing?" Then I properly registered Lisa being there... Indeed, all very intriguing!

According to Vortex mail, there are several significant developments with companions:
- Hex will be back this year - Six and Peri will star in a special range (Hoping it’s Comic Adaptations with Frobisher) - They have plans for Chris and Roz but they’re top secret. - They’ve got no plans for Sara Kingdom or Thomas Brewster.

Were there any comics with Chris and Roz, or were they purely New Adventures? By the time Chris and Roz were introduced the DWM comics had diverged from the New Adventures (the comics actually killed Ace off!). In fact, the last New Adventure to have a DWM prelude was the book before they were introduced. They appear in some of the Bernice Summerfield books under the Virgin range, having been created in the books like Benny was. Chris also carries over into some Faction Paradox material, and indeed some aspect of this ends up in a Benny audio.

I hope they never bring Brewster back. Kept him around too long and he was absolutely terribly written and acted.
