That's a brilliant book. Of course it would have to depend on Freema being willing to reprise the role of Martha. Forever Autumn might make a better comic strip though. The New Series book I'd love to see (and hear) adapted is Beautiful Chaos because it's such wonderful material for Donna's family. Beautiful Chaos is my favourite new series book. It felt like a natural part of series four to me.

Besides, if you like Festival of Death, get the Fifth Doctor audio Cobwebs. It's the closest you'll get to Festival of Death on audio anyway. They both have a similar timey wimey gimmick, but they are very different stories. What I really prefer about Festival of Death is that it has more time travel. In Cobwebs, they only travel back in time once, and that's over a very long span of time. In Festival of Death, their is sometimes more than one version of the Doctor and Romana running around at once.

Cobwebs isn't as timey wimey because it's a two-hour full cast audio, whereas Festival of Death is a 300-odd page novel with no limit in terms of plot scope and characters. A remarkably long list of the similarities: Written by Jonathan Morris? Check Set in a derelict station? Check Authority figure with an agenda who ends up hoist by their own petard? Check The Doctor and his companions arrive after everything has been resolved, which includes his apparant death? Check The Doctor and companions go back in time to find out what happened and satisfy causality, with a clever get out of to survive the death? Check A depressed AI, who the Doctor can promise will get its death wish because he saw it in the future? Check Deadly arachnid-like creatures who threaten the Doctor and his companions? Check A long-standing mystery around a derelict location? Check (The Cerberus and the Research Station on Helheim which draws older Nyssa there) Basically Cobwebs hits the main story beats, but Festival of Death has a more complex plot and more characters to populate it because the medium allows it.

I don't think they'd do any that have an audiobook available, and that one's on my audible wish list.

Apart from the timey winey stuff and the depressed computer, those similarities are mostly plot points that appear all the time in Doctor Who.

It does seem odd that we still haven't a clue as to what this release will be, but surely it will feature the Seventh Doctor.
I know they haven't stated that these will all be New Adventures, but the past releases must be a heavy indication that it will be.

The NSAs wouldn't be a bad idea but it'd have to be after the, for lack of a better term, hiatus, otherwise it would be really jarring, as well as a little strange, to have more kid friendly stories right after doing the Virgin stuff, and a little underwhelming as a temporary finale.

I have just done another extensive search to see if there is an audiobook available for Festival of Death (well I checked on Wikipedia and Amazon) and it doesn't look like one has ever been done.
I know that Jonathan Morris isn't keen to have an adaption done of this novel and arguably we already have a version of this story on audio with Cobwebs.
However what I really want, and have done since I first read the book, is to hear Tom and Lalla saying the Doctor and Romana's lines. Therefore is there any chance that Big Finish could do an enhanced audio reading of the Festival of Death with John Leeson as the main voice and with Tom Baker as the Doctor and Lalla Ward as Romana.
It would set it apart from the BBC audiobooks that only have the one reader, but it wouldn't be Big Finishes normal novel adaption. It would be a hybrid of the two. I wonder if their licence would allow it?? Or indeed if there would be sufficient demand for it...

Since they seem to be restrained from using the 8th Dr novels, I'd love to see more of the Virgin Missing Adventures.
5th doctor possibilities- 1) Cold Fusion (hopefully find out in 2 weeks) 2) Goth Opera 3) The Sands of Time (PLEASE!) 4) Lords of the Storm
6th Doctor 1) Millennial Rites!! 2) Time of Your Life 3) Mission:Impractical (I know not Virgin but come on.. Frobisher and Glitz?)
Heck... how about have Tim Treloar try is hand at "Dancing the Code"?

I totally know that it's recent and there's an audiobook, read by Nick no less, but Engines of War, c'mon, we are getting a little War Doctor, that one would be great to have in the set.

I wouldn't mind an Engines of War adaptation, but if we are only getting so many with John Hurt, I would prefer more original stories.

Anyone got the latest DWM where the title of the mystery adaptation in December was supposed to be announced? Mine didn't arrive yesterday

I'm 90% sure it will be Cold Fusion. So far, favourite to win on here is Cold Fusion. Keep the bets coming chaps, there's still a lot to play for!
