The Incredibles.
Just another altogether great Pixar film that I don’t watch as often as I should. I always forget how delightful Edna is - spin-off movie please? I see some people online have called this film “Watchmen-lite” but I personally don’t see it beyond a vague surface level in some of the world-building. If anything, it’s more comparable to Kingdom Come or Civil War to me and, again, that’s strictly from a surface level.
Anyways, great film!

On Friday I watched 'Mortal Kombat' and today 'Soul'. Whilst I'm not going to say that I particularly 'loved' either of them, they were both pleasant enough background watches.
At the moment I'm currently watching 'The Mitchells Vs The Machines'. 'A little over twenty minutes in and I'm certainly enjoying it so far! (I can never confirm nor deny the fact that the first ten minutes, focusing on the lead's film-making/trying to get into film school has actually kind-of inspired me to try and get on with the Christmas script I've been working on for a while now... 'One year it'll finally be finished, one year it'll finally be finished).

And now I've watched The Incredibles 2 for the first time.
It's... not bad, but definitely a step down in quality - at least in terms of story. The animation is breathtaking, the acting is on-point (I literally squealed when I heard Bob Odenkirk!), the action is phenomenal, the score is bombastic and fun. But the themes of this film aren't as focused as the first and the story is rather basic, with a villain who isn't nearly as well developed or as relatable. Some ideas here that I really, really liked were not explored to their full potential and neither were many of the characters introduced here (Bob Odenkirk's character sadly...). When the Parr family is just interacting, this film really shines - and also whenever Edna and Frozone are onscreen! It's a really funny film and it's still pretty coherent and easy to enjoy. It just feels like this film needed a script editor to really trim down the bits that are getting in the way and tie the conflicts together in a way that's a little more thematically resonate.

Low budget SyFy movie called "Finder's Keepers".. utterly predictable.. possessed evil doll that syncs in with the new child moving into a house trope..
wow.
About 1/2 way through the new DC animated "Justice Society World War II"..
:-)

Judge Dredd (1995) Far inferior to the later Karl Urban picture but I’d argue it captures the look of the comics more. Dredd should never have taken his helmet off though. I agree, I'm a HUGE Stallone fan but this wasn't his best movie, the tone is uneven & did you notice the bad editing in the third act? It's because the scenes were Dredd battles the clone Judges was cut as well as a poorly executed fight scene with Rico. Dredd with Karl Urban is by far the superior movie & deserved sequels.

I agree, the third act is a mess. Always thought it was a sign of shoddy workmanship on the part of Mega-City One that the lab just starts exploding after only a few gunshots. Also thought it was a weird choice to have Rico as the main antagonist. As far as I can remember, he appeared only the once and didn’t last long. Mind you, had they used the Judge Death and the Dark Judges it would have had a much higher body count. I do like the practical effects though when it comes to the ABC Warrior. Even though I don’t know why he’s there.

www.imdb.com/title/tt0080850/Finally watched this movie. a 1980 total rip off of "Halloween" (right down to the theme music). Notable as being the very 1st movie that Tom Hanks did. They advertise him as 1 of the main characters, he is only in it for 10-15 minutes, maybe. Totally predictable movie.

After work today I watched 'Justice Society: World War II'. Whilst I don't know if I'd really be in much of a rush to watch any more Justice Society/animated DC films after watching this, I'd say that this was a pleasant enough way to start winding down for the evening...

I like how Wonder Woman has an accent now, not American. Fits in with the latest WW movies.

I've only seem a couple of them, but will agree that was a nice touch, I have to say, and I will admit that I did have to check whether or not it was Gal playing her

Paddington (2014)
Simply delightful. Take note future filmmakers, this is how you adapt a beloved literary series/character for the silver screen.

Paddington is very good as well. It’s one of those rare cases where the sequel is just good as the original if not better.

Paddington is very good as well. It’s one of those rare cases where the sequel is just good as the original if not better. They are making a third one! Hopefully it will be just as good🤞 This is going to sound weird but I kind of think it would be interesting if in one of the sequels Paddington got turned human and got played by Ben Wishaw himself! Think of all the interesting situations that could happen!

Happily
(Very Dark Comedy A Couple in a rut go on a Couples Retreat with no limits but fatal consequences if they fail to resolve their issues.)
