Avengers Civil War. Still really like that one. Go team Tony! Plus, Daniel Brühl is such a great German export. I love his German movies (Good bye, Lenin!) but he also does a great villain for Marvel. Oh In the long run I'm Team Rogers ! Regards mark687

Edit- I did read an interesting article the other day about the philosophical implications of Marvel Civil War. And learned a lot about myself in the process. The story is about Liberalism (Steve) versus Utilitarism (Tony). Utilitarism is a big part in German law and our constitution. As opposed to the US. So me favoring Tony is partly due to my cultural bias/ upbringing/ education. I thought this was really interesting.
And then they say comics rot your brain and make you stupid. See, I learned something!

its interesting in the final Act of the Infinity Saga you could say Tony followed Steve's POV though Regards mark687

its interesting in the final Act of the Infinity Saga you could say Tony followed Steve's POV though Regards mark687 Tony understood Steve very well, and agreed with him, and in an ideal world, he would have followed Steve. But he was also very aware that if he did not take charge, somebody worse would. He tried to prevent a worst case scenario and protect as many people as possible, no matter the cost (and in the comics there is a terrible price to pay, and especially Peter Parker and his loved ones are totally screwed over by a near villainous Tony).
The Iron Man Civil War comic is great in that regard because it has both of them explaining their sides and why they do what they do. Had me in tears.

I went cinema Thursday for the first time in 14 months to see A Quiet Place Part 2, if you get the chance watch this awesome movie, i kid you not this is a rarity where the second part improves over the original & expands upon the backstory & characters.
My favourite film of 2021 so far.

(Its like Horror, Marvel and Young Person Relationship Genres had a creative orgy and created this watchable outsider film. Worth a look)

New Mutants (Its like Horror, Marvel and Young Person Relationship Genres had a creative orgy and created this watchable outsider film. Worth a look) Regards mark687 Didn't care for it. It had all the makings of a good film, but never even added up to the sum of its parts, much less exceed them. I didn't think it was bad per se, but rather that it was a huge disappointment and ultimately pretty boring.

Cruella...... Over long and convoluted story but was top notch Over the top villain acting by all leads
Not really worth the extra £20 but cheaper than cinema and a dam site more comfy

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga
A lot more fun than I thought it would be. It plays all the beats of Will Ferrell’s comedies but is a lot more generous and good-hearted than many of them. The songs are mostly great but it really could have been cut a fair bit shorter.

Big Trouble in Little China (1986) One of the greatest movies ever made. Easily right up there alongside the likes of Flash Gordon. "It's all in the reflexes"

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
First time seeing this. Has a few nice set pieces and Michael Keaton really shines as The Vulture.

Temple of Doom (1935 / 1984) Indy is 36, Ford 42 (six year gap) Raiders (1936 / 1981) Indy is 37, Ford 39 (2 year gap)
Last Crusade (1938 / 1989) Indy is 39, Ford 47 (8 year gap)
Mystery of the Blues (1950 / 1993) Indy is 51, Ford is 51 (same age)
Crystal Balls (1957 / 2008) Indy is 58, Ford is 66 (8 year gap)
The next film is due next year, when Ford is... hang on, how old? EIGHTY?! He's playing an action hero at age eighty?
Wow. Well, anyway, so the setting should be somewhere between 1971 and (most obviously) 1979. However, my personal view is that it should be set in 1981 and be set around the filming of 'Raiders', with Indy unimpressed by Ford and taking him off on a real adventure; the actor playing Ford could then take over and be cast as Indy in further movies. But George Lucas just won't take my calls.

Yeah, I tend to forget that Raiders was still pre WW2. It still feels like Buster Crabbe playing Flash Gordon on the 1980 version. Anyhow, here he is on location (I suspect he takes the mask off during filming):

As I had a freebie ticket that expires today, this afternoon I went to one of my local cinemas for a double-bill.
Dream Horse - Not a favourite of the (few) films I've seen on the big-screen recently, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would... (The fact that I had a free ticket probably helped) Peter Davison was a nice surprise, I will say...
A Quiet Place Part 2 - Haven't seen the original yet, but, whilst I will say that I didn't exactly 'love' it, but, out of context, I enjoyed it pleasantly enough (even if I felt like it suffered from 'middle episode syndrome' somewhat).

A Last Moment of Clarity [2020]
Noir style Thriller
(Years after a woman [Sammanatha Weaving] is shot dead during a break in, her Husband encounters an exact double in the form of a Hollywood Actress being pursed by the same criminals behind the break in)

Event Horizon Amazing set design, great actors, and love the cool trippy hell stuff. I enjoyed it a lot, but it wasn't as scary as I was expecting. It was actually a bit naff in places, perhaps knowingly so.
