I think the third ep, the (mostly) two-hander with Samuel West, showed that much can be done with the Nu-Who properties even when you only have two characters, effectively being a companion chronicles style release. I'd imagine the Churchill Box will expand on this format quite a bit. I'm not going to disagree with it's potentional, but it was easily the episode I hated the most. I stopped listening half way through it for most the day, and only went back to power through to the McGann Episode. And a line of her's at the end really annoyed the crap out of me, and pushed River into straight up unlikeable. What was the line? I'd actually like the unlikeable River to be developed. She keeps calling herself a psychopath...let's see it. We could have some adventures from much earlier in her timeline. I also hope we don't need The Doctor to feature in future sets. Her first and last words in this one are about him. I'd like her to truly stand on her own merits going forward.

I don't recall it exactly, but it was making him transform into his true shape, and saying something like, "So I can shoot a monster."
It makes me uncomfortable because of the general, because it comes across, if you look different and weird, you're a monster and it's ok to kill you, but if you look human it's not okay.
I enjoyed her appearances in the show, but here, I thought she was ill used, and probably shouldn't have been tied to the doctor at all.

Yes, I do remember that line. It was "I prefer shooting monsters to humans" or something, yes. I honestly don't mind that personally - if it were The Doctor saying it then of course I'd have issues but she's always been hinted to have a very dark side. Witness the Dalek begging her for mercy in The Big Bang on finding out its addressing River Song. I can very much see where you're coming from though, with her being presented as the hero of the set.

The Mercy thing from the Dalek I never liked, but side note.
It's not that she's dark, if she was dark she wouldn't care if he was a human. It kind of goes a step further than that, it kind of implies Humans can't be Monsters, and if you look not human you are a Monster, and therefore it's okay to shoot and kill you. It is, for a lack of a better word, Racist (Specist?). It makes me uncomfortable and that's really why I don't think I can get another set from Miss River.

I'm actually getting more interested in this set as I listen to this debate. I want a psychopathic, unpleasant River. Time for a real anti-hero

If you guys check your order history, do you see that too about the CDs being dispatched last week? If so, I guess its a glitch though a bit frustrating as I've been sitting waiting on it every morning this week

I've asked them on FB with the screenshot anyway, just in case its a thing. I'd hate for their automated system next week to say "We've already sent his"

Nothing on mine either. Only difference I see is I ordered the new series bundle, but that shouldn't change anything as I normally see partially dispatched on bundles too.
Cheers

I'm not going to disagree with it's potentional, but it was easily the episode I hated the most. And a line of her's at the end really annoyed the crap out of me, and pushed River into straight up unlikeable. I agree with this 100%, i found the whole thing a chore to listen to. I would have given up halfway if i didn't know McGann was in the last story.

In the 1st story "The Boundless Sea" this is my Query{Spoiler} We know this story takes place one year after the discovery of Tutankhamuns Tomb,so that makes it 1923. When River escapes from the tomb she goes in pursuit of prim or prym, sitting in the car she shouts "KEYS" the keys are handed to her,and then we hear the sound of the key in the ignition, then the engine starts?.Did cars havs ignition keys in 1923? BTW this is my favourite story of the four.

The first story bored me a little if I'm entirely honest, I don't know what it was but I just found myself looking at the clock all the way through.
From the second story on I was totally hooked though, loved the arc, loved the supporting cast and thought the way 8 was handled was superb.
I'm definitely looking forward to series 2.

Most Fords did. It wasn't an ignition in the sense that we have now, but it turned on the electrics so you could crank the engine over from inside or outside. Most people just left the key in the slot though.
