My phone’s OS is about a year behind but had no issues downloading the new app. Granted I haven’t really used it beyond checking it opened, but that’s all we can do now anyway.

I’m slightly confused, why is everyone rushing to back everything up all of sudden. People just worried about issues from Tuesday onwards. It's a snowball effect. Some people panic and start mass downloading, causing website issues, which cause more people to panic and mass download, causing a loop. There should be nothing to worry about.

I backed up everything I hadn't already downloaded before the last time Big Finish updated the website, just in case there was an issue. There wasn't, except, as I mentioned above, BF listing some releases I'd downloaded as "not downloaded" - no big deal.
Trying to do back up before the website update this time, but have only downloaded some things that hadn't been previously downloaded. I have a small number of items not downloaded left. I'd like to back up everything, but I'm not that worried. Even if something fell off, I have a record (along with email acknowledgements from Big Finish) of what I bought.

Big Finish: "There's going to be a new website and a new app and all the stuff you have now won't work when it launches but don't worry you can download everything now as a back up just to be on the safe side oh no everyone is trying to download everything and now our server has fallen over don't panic don't worry everything will be fine." Should work providing you've the right Version of OS but why would you the Customer assume you'd have to Upgrade your OS just because they would've added more functionality, and with only 4 Days notice if they don't tell you. Regards mark687 They've said that anything you'vfe downloaded to your phone won't be accessble when you open the new app. You have to download it all again.

I only have 1 -2 stories downloaded to my phone at a time, it's an endless rotation. I make sure the next story I want to listen to is downloaded before the current one is finished, then delete.
Am I the only to do this?

BF Tweet We are aware of intermittent issues with the Big Finish website. Our team is investigating. Apologies for the inconvenience. Regards mark687 Probably cause everyone is trying to back up their stuff before July 30. Done yesterday.
*buffs nails, looks smug*
Actually I just checked for any non-backed-up bits and pieces like bonus-length interview tracks I'd somehow missed. BF online is just an extra 'off-site' backup for me as I don't use their app. I copy required DLs direct to my phone from my hard drive, which is of course backed up and there's my complete BF DL DVD archive. (Which currently stands at - oh Rassilon! - 85 DVDs each stuffed with 4.4ish Gb of .zips)

I was just looking for things I hadn't backed up also. Last night was the first chance I had to do it, after the Jewish Sabbath, which ended very late last night (that's summer ). I would have had to stay up way too late to get it all done last. That's life.

Am I the only to do this? I do the same, mostly as I haven’t the space on my phone for any more than a few box sets at one time. My phone won’t support the new app so will have to make do with the current app till it stops working. Only have one monthly range on it at the moment. Have tried to pull down a couple more sets into it just now that would see me through the next week or so of dog walks but downloads won’t start.

Surely they could have seen this coming.. A bit of a lesson for everyone as well - download and store onto a HDD etc as they get released.

I Remember the Website revamp of 2012 and the much missed Jason Ward having an in depth discussion on the old official BF Forum with someone quite high up in the Team and him being aghast that BFs severs could only handle 10s of thousands hit per minute rather then 100s of thousands or low Millions (and this was before High Speed Internet was a thing.) Surely they could have seen this coming.. A bit of a lesson for everyone as well - download and store onto a HDD etc as they get released. And HDD backup and write to optical disk too. Assuming a drashig doesn't get at them, a DVD/Blu-ray backup is reliable. Hard disks can fail, I've had two just go 'phut' over the years (or more accurately go 'clunk-clunk-clunk') or get corrupted.
(What a good idea it was to release the amazing alt-'Three Doctors' the day before a major website revamp... Never mind, we've waited 51 years for it, a bit longer won't matter. )

I'm not worried about backing things up, I want to place an order before the new pricing kicks in! The tweets linked earlier had a statement that said anyone interested in current CD bundles should get them before the change. Well, I hadn't had the chance to get around to it until today, and I've been waiting all day to do the order... and I still can't (it's nearly 7pm where I am, and the site was down when I first checked around 9am). They're being very cagey about the price changes, which in the past has proven to be a strong indicator that the prices are going to go up, so I'd really appreciate the opportunity to get things while they're cheaper. If I'm wrong and the pricing is actually better after the change, then that'll be my loss, but I'd like the chance to make my order beforehand just in the case.

I think a lot of people leardned this just over the past few days and hit the website hard trying to download everything and back it up. Like some one said above, it's panick spread by a few people takes down the site which makes more people panick. People never learn. It's toilet rols and covid all over again.

Predicting another few hours of website down but IT has it handled 👍 Reason for Outage Confirmed It seems a lot of people tried to download their entire library yesterday (which may be why the servers fell over). BTW, the new website will be hosted on completely new servers. If I was them I'd just leave it and let the new one launch Tomorrow Regards mark687
