Just heard form BF on FB we have yet to make an official announcement about the release date of The Omega Factor series 2. However, you can expect something in the near future. Regards mark687 It's been on the December 2016 slate for months now. I don't remember there being a TBA designation on it. I'm guessing that December's calendar may have increased with the unannounced secret Torchwood release and the announced but not scheduled Dark Shadows maxi/mini. Speculation on my part. And after sleeping on the price increase news I continue to be more bothered by how the news was set loose as opposed to the actual news itself. Not the hugest of deals except I really wish Big Finish would handle these kinds of policy shifts in a more organized and professional manner.

Well in regards to TW anniversary releases unless their keeping something "so secret your fired if it leaks" we've only got Outbreak anywhere close to the Anniversery (there's nothing solid on Archive apart the phrase) so its fast loosing its celebratory impact.
In fact update from the Horse's Mouth (Sorry scotthandcock, )
And that goes for all Big Finish ranges. We make the content, supply the info, but when and how the information is released if down to the company... I wouldn't expect anything until September though
DS Bloodlines is still in production as far as I know,

Have they not said in podcasts and whatnot that there is something else coming? Or have I imagined or misunderstood what I've heard? And as it relates to DS, I'm thinking they would want to get Bloodline out in the 50th anniversary year. I of course be totally wrong and/or delusional.

Not to make the announcement in a podcast when it is done in a glib and jokey manner. We all share a love for what BF does and for how they do it but we all also know for most of us BF releases are a luxury purchase. Have the announcement of shifts in policy that increase our costs as consumers posted on the Web site with all the questions we would ask thought through and answered or through a email. Have the podcast follow up such an announcement, not precede it. Little things matter Jason.

Had this not happened I would've started a Thread on Nick Briggs rant about Gift Vouches.
In the past I gave BF the benefit of the doubt but seriously when were they ever offered?
I've been buying directly from BF since 2000 and I never saw them.

I've not yet heard the podcast, but I do concur that BF continuously manage bad news very badly, but for me this continues to show a growing disconnect between BF and it's fans. BF increasingly operate as and treat their customers like any other business, were customers and we lump it or like it. I find it a huge shame that BF seems to have forgotten its very own roots as fans making a product fans wanted. Sure BF has got bigger, needed to change as it did and does get bigger, but stepping back into the shoes of a fan, and thinking about how various bits of news will be greeted by fans is not a huge thing, and would engender a lot of positive support for BF, which these days I increasingly just don't feel towards them, they are for me increasingly just a company that makes stuff I really like, but I struggle to find reasons to "support" them or to thing of them as anything more than a supplier.

Someone on FB just made the interesting point that if there are further New Series Boxsets planned would they sell at this new pre-order price without a Doctor Actor's involvement, they were thinking in regards of River Song I'm thinking in regards of the Churchill Years?

Yes I believe this is a first (at least since I've discovered Big Finish in 2013) I have ordered all of these already (well except Churchhill which is s range I decided to skip). I usually do preorder at announcement if it's something I know I definitely want but sometimes I do wait for more details. Yeah, I'm skipping Churchill for now, as well.

Jason, nothing you said offended me. You asked a question and I did my best to answer. I certainly didn't intend for the reply to seem arch. As noted, it isn't so much that BF felt the need to do this as it is in the way it happened. As you noted, this isn't the first time BF changes the rules in a way that could be handled in a more professional way. It really is the little things.

For me personally I don't buy a huge amount of BF, so £9 (I have no interest in The Churchill Diaries) doesn't make a huge amount of difference, but it's still £9 I could spend on other stories, curious that is only the New Who related boxsets that are facing a price increase...does this mean they are popular products and BF sees fit to increase the price for business reasons?, or have they not been as popular as hoped for? I've been mentioning BF on other Who forums whenever I can, but it seems the price/format does put more than a few people off at first, if they are not used to Audio drama...
Shame there's not a bundle with TDORS,CD:NM and 8DR Time War...

No because the 8DR Time War is in Bundle with the War Doc Boxsets and is not due out for at least another 14 months so for some reason a pre-order price increase on it makes sense

Isn't McGann one of BF's biggest selling Doctors? I've been buying the War Doctor volumes 1 at a time so I didn't get the original bundle, but I feel pretty confident in saying there will be more than one 8RTW set...

Don't know the reasons myself, but I'd observe that this hasn't caught UNIT 4, and in the releases included only the Churchill box doesn't cover classic Who, so I doubt it's about that.

I think I must be the only person who isn't really troubled by this announcement. For one, I find that there has been more advance notice of the price increase than many businesses give. Big Finish is giving over two weeks notice which I think is more than fair. If you take coffee shops as an example, when Starbucks raises prices we are lucky to get even one day notice of a price increase. They certainly don't email their customers or push a heads up through their app to let us know. I'm not trying to say that BF and a coffee shop are the same, or that the price increase of one is any more or less significant, what I am saying is that we were given notice - and in more than one way. Perhaps it would have been better to have seen it posted on the website prior to the podcast going out, and hopefully the next time a price change is implemented it will be announced to customers in a more acceptable fashion. That said, price increases suck - I fully understand that this will lead to many of us having to be even more selective of the releases we buy and perhaps make sales that much more a part of how we fill holes in our collections. On the subject of the Omega Factor - it would have been nice had BF make an announcement that it was being pushed back, be it due to cast availability, script delays or poltergeists, rather than quietly shifting it off this years schedule. Lack of information leads to speculation which is often wrong and can damage the relationship between BF and fans. I'm not overly bothered by it either. To me it's nothing more than introducing differential pricing between Download and CD and following recent sale pricing is no surprise at all. People in the UK have been posting for ever that having both be the same price made no sense but lets be honest, a shift in policy was never going to be a cut in the download price. My guess is that in future all preorders will cost more for CD than DL from the moment they become available to preorder.

And with McGann being popular this £23 per CD boxset pre-order price model might be applied to the next 8th doc Boxset Arc if there is one planned?

Im not too bothered about a small price increase, they do all go up eventually for all products we buy. At least BF have announced it, most consumer goods just increase in price and we only find out at the till.
Im a pick and choose BF buyer, and with any company I deal with I prefer to keep my money with me rather than shelving out for someting that is months, or even years, away from landing on my door matt.
