Probably Brexit related... They've said in a reply to a query that their international postage not going up has been losing them money since the decision to not increase it was introduced. They're not lying wither - I used to post blurays to a friend in the US and the price has more than doubled in the past year or two. I can take the hit but a business of their size absorbing that? Ouch. So little to do with Brexit (since we haven't Brexited anything!) and more to do with ever increasing postage. Doesn't make it much nicer to just stumble across a new charge out of the blue though. Again, the personal touch BF always have had seems to have been forgotten.
Probably doesn't help that it's almost a dollar cheaper since than last sale I bought for CC, thanks to the pound dropping because of the vote.
Maybe they should just increase the postage? I don't have a good solution to the postage problems, but actually saying something in a public way would have been nice.
Looks like I'll be skipping this sale anyway though, maybe I really should just go all digital, or buy from Amazon.

There are a few CC's I still don't have that I'm interested in but as I think I went over my luxury spending this week so going to have to skip this sale and hold off on preordering the 2017 CC boxset (although that I will definitely get when I can)

The Per Order Charge is definitely a game changer, and not a helpful one to those with a careful budget. Sure is, I tried a series 1 bundle and the per-order charge plus the shipping doubles the price of the order. Sorry but that is ridiculous.

But yeah, If I just wanted to buy 1 CC, I'm paying 10 dollars in "shipping" for a 6 dollar item.
I think this ends me and BF, at least BF direct buying.

I know nothing about the costs of CD printing, but I wonder if BF has investigated outsourcing the printing of physical releases for the North American market to other companies located that side of the pond?, not sure how feasible this would be economically and they would probably have to renegotiate the terms of their license, but it would possibly bring costs down for all concerned, and perhaps encourage more listeners in the long term.
I'm UK based, and mostly buy stories on pre-order/sale pricing anyway so I'm not as effected by the increased postage costs.

The shipping isn't bad, the use of DHL is a problem. Unlike other firms every time I've had an order where the shipper uses DHL they hold the parcel hostage for brokerage fees which shouldn't apply. DHL has some interesting policies in that area. They soak for fees that neither Canada Post, USPS, FedEx or UPS charge.

I rarely listed to an audio more than once (such a backlog!), but this one I have. The others I haven't listened to yet.

I reviewed The Beginning here: dalekbusterscreenfivereviews.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/the-beginning.htmlThe Dying Light I own but I have yet to review it. To give you an indication of my opinion on it, my rating for the audio will be 4/5.

Looks like this will be an expensive month for me at BF!. ...So any recommendations (particularly for 1st/2nd Doctor)? Anyone know when the last time the CC's were on sale was? First Doctor: The Rocket Men Return of the Rocket Men The War to End all Wars The Transit of Venus The Library of Alexandria The Suffering Second Doctor: The Forbidden Time The Great Space Elevator The Jigsaw War The Glorious Revolution Echoes of Grey The Memory Cheats The Uncertainty Principle Second Chances

Series 2 is by far the superior one IMHO.

Anyone have any thoughts or comments on the above? I felt like The Beginning - The Dying Light - Luna Romana arc was very poorly done. It seems that two stories that were intended for other purposes were labored with Stoyn and tied in with The Beginning. As a result, Stoyn is completely uninteresting in the subsequent two stories, and the Beginning is just a cheap effort at a 50th anniversary special. None of the stories in that trilogy rise above mediocre. Helicon Prime is written as a comedy, but it gets the character of the Doctor so completely wrong and the story is so dull, that I wouldn't recommend it. I wish there had been more CC's like the Time Museum, showcasing how the companions have progressed since their time traveling with the Doctor. This one shows Ian at his best even when he's confronted by the worst - the loss of his own memory. I'd recommend this one. The Rocket Men and Return of the Rocket Men are IMHO the two best CC's ever, so I'd definitely recommend those. The Glorious Revolution is so great, because it puts Jamie in his element and gives us a situation where he has more knowledge than the Doctor. This is probably my favorite Jamie CC, so I'd recommend it. I thought The War to End All Wars was just about perfect. The Founding fathers was good. The Locked Room just seemed like a buildup to nothing. It basically required references to as many TV and BF stories as it could make just to prop itself up. Still, if you're buying The First Doctor Box Set Vol. 1 anyway you also get the excellent The Unwinding World, so I think there's an overall positive there. The Jigsaw War is a great twist on the Companion Chronicle format and in interesting story in its own right. I'd recommend it. The 2nd Doctor Vol 1 was disappointing to me. They seem to have forgotten the CC format and just did Early Adventures with a smaller cast, although the The Story of Extinction is the most CC-like. They were all pretty boring IMHO. The Mahogany Murderers is excellent and a must buy for any fan of Jago and Lightfoot. Tales from the Vault was ok, but the fact that the individual stories were so short made them feel fairly trivial and the ending was telegraphed pretty easily.

I realized I had checked the price on the series 1 bundle earlier this month. The "sale" price, including shipping and per order fee is $1 more than it would have been if I had bought it when I priced it.

That should be "per order". I think autocorrect "fixed" it for me.

Anyone have any thoughts or comments on the above? Id recommend the ones in the bold with the ones in red being particular favorites of mine. Also it's not on your list but anyone who doesn't have it definitely get Peri and the Piscon Paradox . One of my absolute favorites of the range.

Change of plan, which single, unlinked, one-disc, CC is the best one to get. (Note not heard any before)
