If you like musical stuff then The Scorchies is well worth getting. It was well worth getting even though I usually don't like musical stuff, and well done to Big Finish for making something like this without me wanting to catapult it from my canon. Somehow I actually think of it as a very good Third Doctor story, plus it was really fun. Lots of good stuff in the Companion Chronicles. I'm rather fond of a number that have already been mentioned ( The Mahogany Murderers, Peri and the Piscon Paradox, Mastermind) I think last sale I was sort of divided between stories with people I think we are fortunate to hear from in the range (Deborah Watling, Jean Marsh, Caroline John, Mary Tamm, Maggie Stables...), people I think are great storytellers and always very enjoyable to listen to (William Russell, Peter Purves, Frazer Hines, Carole Ann Ford...), and stories I just thought sounded particularly interesting like Helicon Prime or any ones set way back in the early days ( Quinnis, and The Beginning from the 50th anniversary "Quadrigger Stoyn" stories that I especially enjoyed as the complete trilogy). Ended up thinking I could hardly go wrong with anything from the range that seemed to catch my eye.

I have the 6 and Jamie trilogy, but not the Companion Chronicle, is it completely essential?

I have the 6 and Jamie trilogy, but not the Companion Chronicle, is it completely essential? It's not essential but both Wreck of the Titan and Legend of the Cybermen reference it, and it's interesting to hear how this Jamie thinks. Also, Hugh Ross is in it.

For anyone still looking for recommendations, I would suggest the Specials box set, containing The Three Companions, The Mists of Time and Freakshow. I bought it in the sale last year and have only just finished listening to it, and I have to say I enjoyed all three stories. The Three Companions was very good. It's nice to hear what happened to Polly after she left the Doctor, and it's always good to hear more from Nicholas Courtney. As for the Brewster part of the story, I haven't heard any of his other appearances, so a warning for anyone else who hasn't who considers getting this set: it may be confusing! You're left guessing as to how he got into his situation if you haven't heard his other appearances, and it can be a bit distracting when you're trying to focus on the story at hand. The Mists of Time, featuring Jo, I don't think was a standout story, and the ending was quite predictable, but it was enjoyable none-the-less. Freakshow is possibly my favourite from the set, though it's a close call between it and The Three Companions. As people always say (and I'm only starting to learn) the Companion Chronicles really get inside the heads of the characters telling the story, and this one gives a nice insight into how Turlough tries to fit in after the events of the Black Guardian trilogy on TV. And as it's cheaper than either the First or Second Doctor - Volumes 1, it's a steal for five stories

I actually didn't have 3 of the downloadable titles, so I got those. One of those was Binary, so I'm really excites. I really love Liz Shaw and we didn't get enough of her before Caroline John passed. I know that BF had all kinds of plans for her in the CCs but it just wasn't to be. I also bought The Specials set, and I'm really looking forward to those. I hate having to try and piece together The Three Companions from multiple releases, so I never really listened to it. I'm looking forward to the others as well. The only CC that I have no interest in is Beyond The Ultimate Adventure. None at all.

I wonder if Big Finish have a new Fly Me to the Moon on their hand there. The stage play adaptations definitely aren't that good, and Beyond The Ultimate Adventure wasn't any better. I really can't blame anyone for passing on these titles. To be honest until now I had blocked out owning them.

To be honest until now I had blocked out owning them. The stage play adaptations have a novelty value even if you do have to put up with some clunky descriptive dialogue especially in more visual scenes (one scene in Ulimate Adventure has the Doctor's companion Crystal guide a Dalek ship through an asteroid field) and the extras are very interesting, but Beyond the Ultimate Adventure is Terrance Dicks getting old toys out of the toybox like he did with his later Doctor Who novels.
