A niggle I had with The Ghost Ship is where it stands in continuity. Angelique is past her Cassandra phase and a vampire, at which point on the TV show Barnabas had been cured for a while (he was cured while Angelique was Cassandra). Yet in The Ghost Ship it appears he's still a vampire. But Nicholas is around. I like continuity references, but this one just didn't work for me. I don't see why it couldn't happen with Cassandra, since Nicholas seemed present largely to have someone for Angelique to be annoyed at, and her vampire condition doesn't really come into play that much except for a decidedly Dark Shadows After Dark moment.

Being Halloween is little more than a week away, I'm seriously thinking about breaking out all the short stories I've been saving for a rainy day (or even better, a stormy night). So today I listened to Hell Wind... I'd say I was totally blown away but it would likely be the worst pun ever - so I won't... :-)
I thought it was a remarkably well-crafted story, with wonderfully descriptive phrases that made it particularly easy to visualize. Combined with the most excellent reading by Kathryn, in my opinion it could scarcely have been much better, even with the wind in the yard today howling as if on cue to the story. I'm also really impressed with Marcy on this one because it turned out to be an unexpectedly momentous story in several ways, yet I still thought the events were extremely well handled. I'd certainly be happy to hear her write another story for Dark Shadows - well done!!

The Scare-a-thon of Scare-cities continues with another previously unheard selection from this set, A Face from the Past - performed most skillfully and evocatively by the lovely and talented Marie Wallace. Another I'd been saving away, since a Liz Stoddard story is a rare and very welcome thing indeed, with the scariest thing being that now I've none saved away. It just being a story about Elizabeth would have been very moving in itself, but this story was far more special than just that... That was... Wow!
