With Steven Moffat leaving Doctor Who after the Christmas Special 2017, what next for him? I think that the next series of Sherlock will be the last. Its been mentioned many times that the two leads may not be available for future episodes, so...
Either, a Sherlock spin off with Mycroft, or, a Doctor Who spin off with The Paternoster Gang.
If he does do a Paternoster Gang series, this may block a Torchwood return. (The BBC may not want too many DW spin offs)
Thoughts?

I don't know. I think he'll have a break for a few years.

I still think he should swap mediums for a while and look into comic books, his style is perfect for them.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I'd love for him to go back into comedy: Coupling is one of my all-time favourite shows.

I can't see him doing Who or Sherlock spin off's, who knows what's next for him, but I'm sure he's not short of offers or ideas.

Catching up on his sleep.
I wonder if he'll be brave enough to rejoin twitter eventually?

I don't know. I think he'll have a break for a few years. Producers, Writers, Showrunners can't afford to take "a few years" off! A producer once told me that showrunners usually crash instantly from the sudden relief, for about one month for every year on the show. I could see us not hearing anything from Moffat for a year. But any longer than that, you're right. That's not good for his career no matter how successful he is.

If the royalties are good, and this is Who and Sherlock here, Moffat could live very comfortably without making any new programmes for a time. Also, brush up on your film and TV history. Many creatives have taken extended hiatuses and came back without a hitch.

He's going to take over as leader of the Conservative Party once Theresa May resigns. He will be the next prime minister in 2020 after his party's 'Make Great Britian Great Again' campaign inspires the nation to vote conservative MPs into their local councils.

Hey, that's a thought. Has Davies written for comics at all? He was going to do a Time War comic but the BBC rejected it. Something similar happened with the Eight/Destrii stories from memory. It was imperative to have Rose in as the current companion and the DWM staff didn't want to sacrifice Destrii's (still unresolved) character arc, so that Year One regeneration story in print was soon nipped in the bud.

I hope the same doesn't happen with Jessica. I'd like her to have a companion exit before Bill is the comic companion.

The writer's strike of '07 kicked up a stink precisely so that royalties would be guaranteed for film and TV writers. We're talking copyright permissions, rebroadcasting, streaming, DVD and Blu-ray sales and merchandising cuts. Sure, it's a few pennies per unit, but stuff like The Abominable Bride or Tintin sells in the thousands to the millions. Just takes a little math.
