Netflix has Stargate SG-1!!! Yes, I have started this again from the beginning, and boy have missed my SG1 team. It is a little dated (that line of Carter's about her reproductive organs being on the inside. Ugh.) but I sure to love this show. I'm looking forward to continuing my re-watch. Nice! We visited the last TV movie, Continuum, recently from the other side of the series. It's nice how much the overall texture of the show has held up over time. The first season has that "finding its feet" period, but after that, you can still point to it and go: "Yep, that's definitely something only SG-1 would think to do." I can remember it being one of the few shows of its era that got to have its cake and eat it too with regards to how it ended. How did Michael Shanks describe it...? "Eight wonderful years and a two year honeymoon." It grew and fleshed itself out like nobody's business. It's been ages since I watched it all the way through. Might be time to revisit it again.

A friend of mine actually did something similar (though the Animals were well behaved she finished the ceremony by "Randomly" picking a Russian tradition where your blindfolded and whoever of the Bride and Groom drinks the Voka Shot instead of the Water has the final Say in Martial Discussions, (naturally my friend the Bride won ) Regards mark687 It's hard to keep the bride from winning on her wedding day The Simpsons: Ullman Shorts 39-40 - Creeping ever closer to the series proper. Bart shoplifting here doesn't quite track with "Marge Be Not Proud" but he's also had several Christmases as a 10-year-old, so whatever, I guess. Star Trek TNG: "The Dauphin" - Romance of the Week for Wes. Yawn. Twilight Zone '85: "The Wall" - This is essentially a Stargate Planet of the Week episode, and not a very good one. Columbo: "Murder, Smoke, and Shadows" - Sadly not the best outing the series has ever had. They used the movie studio setting as an excuse for both Columbo and the killer to behave very theatrically, and it strained credulity. Still, not a bad way to spend an hour and a half; I kinda just enjoy watching Peter Falk futzing around.

Hello again.
Loved the Goes Wrong Show Nativity as chaotic as ever. The Ghosts Christmas Special was lovely. A real mix of humour and pathos. Christmas for ghosts is not easy.
The Upstart Crow Christmas special was great fun as well. Gemma Whelen and David Mitchell did a funny two hander. Ben Elton's script really summed up this year well.
Looking forward to The Worzel Gummidge reboot tomorrow. Last year's episodes were really different from the Pertwee version.

The Sound of TV with Neil Brand. Hello again. Really love his series. The tv theme is that clarion call to watch your favourite show again. My favourites: Dr Who, The Avengers, Grange Hill, Blakes 7, The Wombles, Grandstand, Poirot, Hills Street Blues and many, many others. Also used to like the regional ITV stings which prefaced a programme from Yorkshire Tv or HTV or Southern. Showing me age now!

Twilight Zone '85: Season 3, Episodes 24-26 - This show needs to hurry up and end already.
The Simpsons: Ullman Shorts 41-42 - Clean as a whistle, Homer!

Excuse me What now!? LOL Regards mark687 Mr Polly and I had our wedding at the farm where I work. They have a big open field, and it's very beautiful. We were happy to let the animals wander about during the ceremony so the owners didn't have to wrangle them all some place else. During my vows, my favorite goat decided he ought to add his two cents to the proceedings, and did so at length. So I yelled at him to shut up. And he did, much to the amusement of our guests. That line was removed in the Director's Cut DVD of the Pilot. The creators were never happy with that one. The frontal nudity Showtime demanded is gone too, since they never wanted it to begin with. Congratulations on getting married Polly!

Congratulations on getting married Polly! Thank you! Two years ago now, so far so good... Shows how on the ball I am polly, I thought it was this week. I did wonder about it being a bit chilly getting married in a farmer's field, in Canada (I think), at this time of year!

"It is a tradition in our household..."
We have watched this every year since transmission in 1986, bar last year, so it has to be the most viewed Xmas special for our family. Still got the off air VHS, plus a DVD-R transfer. A classic.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong (2016)
The first time I’ve ever experienced anything from the Goes Wrong team and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you’re a fan of slapstick I’d recommend it wholeheartedly and David Suchet (although he has a very small role) is, as always, very memorable.

Hello again.
Just watched Worzel Gummidge and Saucy Nancy. Beautiful, quite beautiful. A calming, funny little adventure for Worzel and the two children and Saucy Nancy, played brilliantly by Shirley Henderson. The photography that takes in the countryside, birds, insects, fields and this time the coast is quite enchanting. It's completely different to the Seventies version. It's cheeky and sad and quaint and beguiling. The music by the Unthanks is great too. More please Mr Mackenzie Crook. It's so well written and directed. One of my Christmas highlights.

Hmm, yes, that would be a bit cold! But yeah all this time I talked about Mr Polly, I did mean Mr in the literal sense. Rest assured it was a fine sunny afternoon in May. Hope you are having a good holiday despite the crummy year it's been. That goes for all the rest of the DU denizens too.

Quentin Blake’s Clown (2020)
A festive special courtesy of Channel 4. Sometimes I think we tend to forget how prolific a career Mr Blake has had outside of the Roald Dahl books.
Thought this just hit the spot though. It was lovely perhaps bordering on twee but I think considering the dreadful year we’ve all had, a bit of twee is just what we need. A tinsel topped tonic if you will.
I do hope we get more of these Quentin Blake adaptations in the future.

Turns out the new Red Dwarf movie was shown last night on ABC and I missed it, but I was able to watch it on iView this evening (finally!!!). After a slightly shaky start, I can safely say that it's definitely been worth the wait I would have paid to see it on the big screen too. Maybe next time?

Just a plain honest elevation of their existence with each other, without banter or sarcasm. In fact it might be a TV moment of 2020. Regards mark687

Star Trek : Deep Space Nine - Season 1 eps. 1 to 6 ('Emissary part 1' through to 'Captive Pursuit')
I reckon it must be just shy of twenty five years (!!!) since I've seen these episodes, and whilst a few of the effects and prosthetics have aged over the years it is surprising how well it all still holds up to today's standards. This was 90's Trek at it's height - like TNG alongside it DS9 channeled the spirit of the original 60's show.. albeit with a darker tone. A little rough around the edges in it's storytelling (what first season of Star Trek hasn't been?) and certainly in need of the character development that we all know would be in place by the time of 'What you Leave Behind', this second time around is still way more watchable than it's modern day successors have unfortunately turned out to be.
