Disney's.....what if? i don't get it, there just seems no point. Having now seen the first episode I agree. The idea of a woman in the 1940s gaining the powers of Captain America sounds like it could be interesting but Marvel doesn't want to do anything interesting with the premise. There are a couple brief perfunctory nods to the sexism of the times but the only significant difference appears to be that in this universe Captain America doesn't have a penis. Apart from that its just normal Saturday morning cartoon superhero action stuff so as you say, there just seems no point.

What's the point of anything? It's just fun. There *is* some suggestion, though, that it's going to factor into the alternative timelines/universes thing set up by "Loki" fpr use in the Spiderman and Dr Strange sequels. There's also at least a hint of a possibility that it might be something of a tryout for future ideas (I'm not sure how likely a live-action Captain Carter movie is, mind you)
But it negates any jepody in future, iron man dies oh look this is an iron man from an alt universe comes to take his place. I remember when jk Rowling said dead means dead! Other wise no tale. I feel thats true. it wight work to sell comics, and comic universe is a strange beast……but a concept for tv & movies it’s a step too far for me and feels lazy will put me off continuing with the marvel universe……. it might be fine for other but not me……

Disney's.....what if? i don't get it, there just seems no point. there well animated and told well but why multiuniverses......isn't one enough to tell stories..... loki was bad enough but bearable but this hold off with this please what next who would beat who in a fight, please Disney stop employing 12 year old boys for ideas Its just Disney trying to milk as much money as they can from The Marvel Franchise the writing for the Disney Plus MCU shows are utterly dreadful (Loki, Wandavision and Falcon/Winter Soldier) if anything it makes me wish that Netflix continued with The Defenders series (Daredevil, Punisher, etc) and we had a continuation with that instead

But it negates any jepody in future, iron man dies oh look this is an iron man from an alt universe comes to take his place. True enough, but that is *exactly* what happens in comics. In fact, the scenarios for bringing back Iron Man in the past have arguably been less credible than the one you describe. I genuinely belive, though, that we'll all see "What If" through a different perspective once the films with other universes have come out. That's not necessarily going to improve it, though. the writing for the Disney Plus MCU shows are utterly dreadful (Loki, Wandavision and Falcon/Winter Soldier) if anything it makes me wish that Netflix continued with The Defenders series (Daredevil, Punisher, etc) and we had a continuation with that instead [/div]
[/quote] Not sure I can agree here. Granted, I don't think the shows are as good as people make out ("Wandavision" wasn't quite so interesting as things got explained, "The Falcon" was poorly paced, and you get the impression that the people making "Loki" are a bit pleased with themselves) but I think they're far from dreadful. (I'm slowly working through the Netflix shows at present, and I think they have a better sense of self than the MCU ones do, but they're so grim!)

Late to the party on Ted Lasso but man what a gorgeous show. That we have a series about empathy, kindness, forgiveness and accountability is amazing enough, that is is as funny and moving as it is without coming across as overly sentimental or sickly sweet is something of a miracle.

Lower Decks. I can't say how much I love this show. It is absolutely brilliant. One of the few shows that I found so good that I decided I needed to own on BR.

Along with Disco 3, it re-ignited my Trek love. Took a few eps to get going but man..it's funny, heartfelt and a love letter to fans. I imported the steelbook from the US and it's coming out in the UK now. Serves me right for not waiting...woulda been a fair bit cheaper. But hey - supporting Trek? I'll pay a premium.

Lower Decks. Still don't think it is that bad for an easter egg hunt. This time, we even get some Star Trek Online Easter eggs thrown in. They still talk a bit too fast and the pace is a bit too frantic for me, but as I sad, I would not call it bad.

Christopher Benjamin just got decapitated on his motorbike in Midsommer Murders. Injected a bit of excitement into this dull show.

Stuff that's on now:
Currently watching the new episode of What If...? Continues to be great fun, one of the TV things I most look forward to every week.
Also Star Trek: Lower Decks for the last few weeks as well.
New season of The Walking Dead started up on Sunday, was a fantastic premiere. The show is quite long in the tooth and I'm glad this is the final season, but it was a really good start to this year. I wish that Angela Kang had taken over the showrunner job in season 6 instead of 9, the show is so much better than it was when Scott Gimple was running it into the ground for seasons 6, 7, and 8.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine started back up a couple of weeks ago. Has been good so far, even if it hasn't hit 'excellent' peaks yet. Hoping they end the show well, I'm sad it's ending...but then, eight seasons--including three after being rescued from cancellation by another network--is a heck of a run for any show.
Older stuff:
Finished off the What We Do in the Shadows universe with Wellington Paranormal season 3 the other day. Great fun, sad that (for the moment) there's no more new stuff to watch.
Stargate franchise rewatch has hit season 2 of Stargate Universe. I maintain that SGU is the breath of fresh air that the franchise needed after three seasons of the writers being very obviously bored with Atlantis and just recycling stories from SG-1.
