The Sandman episode 8.. Slowly getting there. Amazing how Season 2 hasn't been publicly announced yet. Read a couple news articles stating the show is very expensive to produce.. Still.. Yeah, I read a little while ago that Gaiman himself has said that the show is so expensive to produce that being the most watched Netflix thing ever is not enough on its own, that it needs to be at that level and also hit x viewership level before a second season will even be considered.
I haven't seen the show yet (suppose that means I haven't contributed lol) but it's been on my to do list for a while now, and the fact that I've heard pretty much universal praise for it is good to hear.

Or script, characters etc, my niece was watching ep5 to try and wind me up I said you want to waste 30mins of your life on crap go ahead but I'tm not. & yet you are still commenting on it? I seem to recall you say this Yup I agree but sadly we live in a society of trolls and haters who get a kick out of texting toxicity. All one has to do is switch off change to another channels, if people enjoy it cool it's just not my LOTR I gave it a chance didn't like it so switched off. I was at my cousins house I can't tell his daughter what to watch but she knows I loathe this hence why she watched it, no way am I watching anymore of this twaddle. Still I appreciate that you taking a interest in my TV viewing habits even when I'm visiting at another's house & have no say on what there watching.

I have to keep kicking myself to remember that Galadriel is supposed to be the protagonist of Rings of Power, because hers is consistently the weakest storyline in this infuriating mess of a show. That's right, it's time to discuss episodes 3 and 4. Don't worry, I promise (this one time) I'll be brief. Earlier, I refrained from commenting on Rings of Power when it borrowed a major plot point from, of all places, Diablo III. But now they're cribbing from South Park and I feel like someone needs to sit these writers down in a quiet room for several hours' worth of lecturing. The Numenoreans have decided to completely upend their society for generations and develop -- or for Middle-Earth, rather, invent -- a deep-simmering racism out of... fear elves will steal their jobs? All I can do is cradle my head in my hands at this point. Earlier I commented on the poor writing, evident in the dialog. But these new lows make the preceding scripts look immaculately conceived. Good lord. But at least Numenor looks really, really good! It's a cool place. Lovely to see on-screen, even broader and more expansive than my meager imagination could render from The Silmarillion's dry prose. Not sure what the point is of giving Galadriel and Miriel foreknowledge of Numenor's fall, but at least that last scene -- the very last scene -- finally got the plot moving. And it only took four episodes! I mean, really. We could've had Galadriel return to the King, have him refuse to keep funding her search and send her friends off to Valinor (as she watches) and then travel herself to Numenor to solicit their aid -- all in the first episode. This is not a lot of movement! I return, inevitably, to the metaphor of treading water. A metaphor made literal for the second time! As, in another meandering plot that has barely begun to form, we get a little boy stuck treading water at the bottom of a well in a town infested by orcs. How's he gonna get out of that slippery predicament? Easily: the camera will just cut to him having escaped. Neat. This show is such a mess. At least the Dwarfs are fun. I have not watched a single episode yet. But I am reading your posts with interest. You share some of the same interests and tastes with me, so I think you give me a very good picture. From what you are writing, this series is what I actually had feared.... I might watch it anyways, because I love dwarves.

Haha... yeah, the Dwarfs are fun but -- fair warning -- are barely even in the show so far. Maybe 10-15 minutes of screen time, total, so far. But they're the only characters that are interesting to me so far (and this is also the Elrond subplot, and it's pretty fun... we get to see a genuine dwarf/elf friendship and it helps explain why and how Elrond was later able to gather up the big council at Rivendell.)
Sets, costumes, locations are all phenomenally good. It reminds me a lot of AAA video games: it's clearly the product of many immensely talented and passionate people, with inordinate funding... aiming for the pinnacle of quality in every respect but one. These big money people never have any respect for writers, huh? So, yeah, as per usual: very little time or care or confidence put into the narrative. And without that, it just feels empty. Like a cheap performance. Mere puppetry.
If nothing else, at least watch the establishing shots of Numenor. That city is gorgeous. And the scene with the white tree... and the flood. Beautiful. An Alan Lee painting come to life.

I watched the new Quantum Leap last night. I liked it! There are some decisions I would have made differently, but it's got a lot of potential. And you can tell the creators have an appreciation for the original show. Lets hope it can capture some of that magic. (I really like Ernie Hudson in it. I wish he was Ben's guide. It would have made it much more interesting.)

I’m loving Andor. It’s a prestige BBC One drama wrapped in a Star Wars aesthetic. And I mean that in the best possible way.

Thought I’d finally give the “Detectorists” a watch to see what all the fuss was about.
Really loving it so far.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Thought I’d finally give the “Detectorists” a watch to see what all the fuss was about. Really loving it so far. When the BF podcast was asking folks what fictional worlds they wanted to live in earlier this year I was very tempted to write in and say I wanted to live in the world of The Detectorists. I love it there.

Mostly just continuing what I've been watching...
House of the Dragon - Still good, though the structure of the story they're telling is difficult to translate to TV and that's really starting to show five episodes in, IMO.
SW: Andor - Good, if a bit of a slow start. All told the first three episodes clock in at right around 2 hours, and the amount of story in them was probably only worth about 45 minutes. Still though, phenomenal production value and I love the feel of it. And as of the end of episode 3 the plot appears to finally be moving, so I remain excited for next week.
ST: Lower Decks - Another good one. I continue to be pleased with season 3 being the show returning to goodness.
She-Hulk - Continues to be fun, though I didn't like this one quite as much as the ones before it. Enjoyed drunk Jen though.
Rings of Power - Woof, this one was rough. I'm a big Tolkienite (re-read the whole Legendarium every couple years), but I've been content so far that the show is going to have to take liberties to tell such a sweepingly large story. The developments in today's episode though...holy fark, just insultingly stupid. So stupid that I nearly shut the episode off and went on with my life.
Oh and I guess Rick and Morty now that it's back too. 601 was excellent, 602 was alright but not spectacular, 603 was...necessary.
