Rings of Power - Woof, this one was rough. I'm a big Tolkienite (re-read the whole Legendarium every couple years), but I've been content so far that the show is going to have to take liberties to tell such a sweepingly large story. The developments in today's episode though...holy fark, just insultingly stupid. So stupid that I nearly shut the episode off and went on with my life. Yikes. What happened? Rings of Power 105 So the story they decided to invent as of this episode is that somehow, during the First Age there was a Silmaril in a tree atop the Misty Mountains (even though the wars of the First Age were not fought in this part of the world), and as the forces of light and dark fought for it, magic lightning (or some such) struck the tree and that plus the Silmaril projected roots into the ground which SOMEHOW became the mithril that the Dwarves are mining.
And besides that making absolutely no farking sense, they've also decided that if the Elves can't get X amount of it, they're all going to die by the coming spring. Which is just the dumbest anti-Tolkien thing imaginable.
Just inconceivably stupid, and I feel like the writers of this show -- who I have been happy to give plenty of leeway up to here! -- went out of their way to insult their audience as morons who will accept whatever they're given.
*table flip*

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared
(Imagine Sesame Street for Adults complete with themes such as "Work" and "Health", combination of Puppetry. Animation and Songs used but with a slant towards dark Humour and Horror)

Caught up on The Rings of Power 3-6. I’m not the biggest Tolkien nut (it’s been years since I read the main books, let alone the appendices) so nothing is screaming out to me as wrong.
I’ve liked Galadriel’s storyline via Numenor. They do finally challenge her on why she fights and what the point of all this is. The proto-Hobbits/Stranger plot doesn’t seem to be advancing all that much. Given it seemed to be based around the old “innocents go off an adventure” vibe of The Hobbit, there seems to be no drive for them to actually go and do that.
I think the Elf/Dwarf plot does seemed to have been massively off course. It started as a precursor to the forging of the Rings and now has become about something else entirely. I assume this is to provide an impetus for said Rings being made, but then such an impetus doesn't need to exist. The whole point of this story is meant to be good old fashioned temptations of power really. Also what was going on with Episode 5’s Dwarf plot. It revolves around a row between King and son…that we don’t actually see in any meaningful way.

MulaneyI love his stand-up, so I went back to his old show. Surprise surprise, Martin Short shows up too. It's very funny. Shame it only had a short run. Cyberpunk: EdgerunnersBig fan of Trigger, so had to give this a watch. It was a great show, if a bit bleak given the cynical setting. But all of Trigger's punch and energy made the world feel so exciting and energetic! PrimalAnother great season from Gendy. Though the willingness to explore moral ambiguity did make it a tough watch, considering some of things the heroes did. And the ending... I half guessed it. Though not the part where-- Mira mates with Spear after he's been burned half to death.

Currently giving Stan Lee’s Lucky Man a go.
I still think having luck as a superpower would be a useful ability to have. As long as I could turn it on and off.

I really don't think Ryan Murphy is the right person to do this show then again why on earth are they making it. Vile human being. & from what I have read. Vile show.

Latest episode of Rings of Power. Wow things escalated quickly. The Southlands and Galadriel/Numenor storylines come together very nicely.

I'm trying to decide if I should watch it or not. I've heard good things. Enjoying it so far (given the nature of the story). However, opening scene they got their facts wrong. The female neighbour wasn't actually his direct neighbour, she lives in the next building over when all the "interactions" occured.. So far everything is "implied" you don't really see any of the "acts". I am just trying to enjoy it for what it is, not a documentary but a dramatisation of what occured.
