My first action (as someone who's spilled stuff on my laptop several times before) would have been to grab the laptop and turn it over to drain the tea off. And shut it down.
I've never dropped a phone in liquid, but when my kids and I were visiting a friend (who we met on the internet) for the first time, my son accidentally knocked her phone into the dog's water dish. He was so embarrassed, he went up to the room we were to sleep in and hid out for half an hour.
The phone survived.

Oh, yeah. You reminded me that I once dropped coffee on my co-worker's phone at work. It survived. But I never heard the end of it.
Even though she also spilled coffee all the time. We were the two coffee drinkers in the office, to the extent that a third co-worker gave her a magnet that said, "Will work for coffee."
