I assumed from the title of the thread, but I suppose you would know!

That title means February 2017, not February 17th.

The only releases for this week mentioned in the BF podcast were 'Doctor Who: The Contingency Club' (Tuesday) and 'The Invisible Man' (this week, day not specified). I suppose they could release this by surprise, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

I wouldn't have a clue, unless someone happened to mention it. I just assumed you'd heard it said on the BF podcast or something.

That title means February 2017, not February 17th. For a few more hours, I can still dream it meant both. :-)

Oh, I see... It means February 2017, not February 17th. :-)
Any Dark Shadows fans for what is probably going to be the best performance of The Invisible Man you've ever seen... I mean, heard...?

Dark Shadows audios have tended to come out mysteriously, and usually near the end of the month. I almost assumed you were talking about next Friday, haha.

All that waiting and then three stories gone in the first two hours... sigh... But all of them well worth the wait - excellent stuff! The readings by Matthew and Andrew especially are really good - well done!! Matthew's main character is disturbingly good, and likewise with Davy's use of OS music cues. Excellent stories by Rob, Ian and Penelope! Bravo, Rob, for making a Harry Johnson story worthwhile. Indeed a fantastic collection.
I think maybe I'm going to save the one with Nancy Barrett (who sounds magnificent!) for just a little bit. I've just heard two stories with Roger Collins (and Elizabeth too, great job Stephanie!), I'm nearly overwhelmed.

Dark Shadows: Phantom Melodies: Last Orders at the Blue Whale( Harry Johnson & Carolyn Stoddard - 1968, between episode 669 and 670) Oh my! That was superb! I've not yet met Harry in the show, but damn I'm looking forward to it now. I feel I'm going to be rather let down when he's not played by Waterhouse though As others have said, the use of sound cues and the talking of stuff going on in the show at the time give it a nice old feel, coming as this does shortly before Quentin becomes a regular. I'll very much be interested in revisiting this episode in sequence once I get to the correct spot in the show.

Dark Shadows: Phantom Melodies: The Scarlet Bride (Barnabas Collins & Julia Hoffman - 1973, between The House by the Sea and The Curse of Shurafa)
Very effective use of an outside perspective on Julia and Barnabas, letting us see how others within the world of the narrative view them. Also a nice evocation of the original Dracula, what with a decent amount of the story being told via missives from a bride to be to her mother.
I may have to re-order my timelines a bit, as I tend to go in release order unless otherwise noted, but aren't Barnabas and Julia said to be off in Cairo already in Curse of the Pharaoh?
Anyway, really really good. It took me a while to work out what was going on, just because of the misdirection and the outside viewpoint, but it was a powerful story nonetheless. Helps fill in a little gap, and gives us another installment in the 1973 period of the audios to slot into place.

Dark Shadows: Phantom Melodies: On the Line (Carolyn Stoddard & Carolyn Stoddard - 1973/2017, between The Flip Side & The Happier Dead)
You know, this whole set has been great so far. We've moved from the straight readings with little sound design of Trask the Exorcist back in the first set and are now well in to more or less just more of the Dramatic Readings, coming up with clever ways around the one reader, whether it's like in the last story with Barnabas reading someone else's letters, or this one, where you've got two different Carolyn's talking to each other on the phone. Even the first story, which is just straight narrated third person, uses such good use of the reader's talents and sound cues from the show that you kind of forget it's just the one reader.
This one is set after Carolyn joins Amy at uni but prior to The Happier Dead, as Amy's off on dates with Simon throughout. It's quite good, and delves into the show's frequent use of time travel, but from the other perspective. Usually we're grounded by a character from the "present" entering the past, and we follow them, but this time we're experiencing the time travel tale from the perspective of a "past" inhabitant, who doesn't know what the future holds and is trying to make sense of just wtf is going on. A nice twist on the formula.
