BBC's take on the Bookies favourite's
www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-38808070
I love how Rory Keiner keeps getting these lists.as he's an actor who has always vocally critical of the show in his denials when being linked in the past. Regards

Random musings, Capaldi said barely a month ago on the Andrew Marr show he didn't know when he'd leave but had "hoped" he'd still be the doctor for "a long time.'' though this could of course refer to being the Doctor in the sense of remaining in the public consciousnesses.
The Daily Mirror had an article from late December titled (paraphrased from memory) "Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi in pay wrangle that could decide if he QUITS Tardis", it noted his three year contract had expired and said he was paid less than the other doctors and sought a modest pay rise. Capaldi apparently was on a 3 year contract (with the option of a 4th year) and within a within a month of the interview, he's now confirmed he's leaving. So whilst we won't know for sure, is it reasonable to assume either he'd not been ready/allowed to announce his leaving a month ago, and couldn't give a true answer to Marr?, or that the Mirror was spot on and the BBC had declined a pay rise? Perhaps Capaldi felt like he was no longer wanted (there were rumours on GB a few months ago that BBC executives were leaning on him to leave, concerned about falling merchandising sales).
No doubt the truth will come out eventually...

I Doubt this is a complete blindside to the BBC.
The timings "good" for Chibnail as well all eyes will be on the end of Broadchurch in the hope he tosses Media some bones regarding a new Doctor.

The other question is...will Michelle Gomez go with Capaldi, can we expect a double regeneration this Christmas?

Doubt we'll see an actual regeneration of her.

I think she could easily cover multiple Doctors' eras, more so than John Simm's Master. I think when there's next a new Master it will be a he and played by a black actor though - possibly Idris Elba in a guest role, or Paterson Joseph.

Very interesting....Something is rotten in Denmark is my guess....We'll never know the truth until ten or twelve years from now when Capaldi's biography is published or he does some in-depth interview. We didn't find out why Eccelston really left until years after.

I'm very sorry to see him go. From all accounts, he was genuinely enthusiastic about the role, and loved being the Doctor.
I liked the vast and alien intellect from his first series, the mid-life crisis rock star less so. It really felt like he was finding his groove near the end of the most recent series, and I'm eager to see more. His final series will be bittersweet.
I doubt Chinball will bring in a female Doctor. I think it will happen someday, but not with this incarnation.
My pie in the sky dream is Chiwetel Ejiofor as the Doctor. He's talented, handsome, he'll be 40 next year, not too young, not too old. Anybody with me?

Moffat's time on the show represents a very clear era, and the introduction of a female Doctor would overshadow anything else Chinball would do. It's possible, but it would be an extremely risky move for his first series, so I think it's unlikely.

My reaction was to go all Malcolm Tucker.. To avoid having to ban myself, I won't leave a verbatim transcript of my comments.

It's possible, but it would be an extremely risky move for his first series, so I think it's unlikely. That's why you put her on a one year contract as a safeguard. I also don't think it would over-shadow Chibnall's era. At first it will cause quite a bit of comment but once people are used to the idea they won't care anymore that it's a woman. Case in point: Hartnell-Troughton.
