I thought this would make an interesting subject.
My last wallet lasted two years. My current one I've had for three but I'm probably going to have to change it because it's in a very bad state.

I bought my current one roughly seven years ago. It is still in good shape.

Several years. I don't really recall.
How long it lasts probably has most to do with where you keep it. I use my front pocket. Plenty of people put it in a rear pocket. I cannot understand how that's comfortable, but each to his own. However rear-pocket wallet bearers probably go through more wallets.

A lot longer than it wanted to. The screams coming from my back pocket eventually got so bad I had to take the wallet out back and pop a cap into it. I enjoyed that initial moment of silence with only the sharp smell of gunpowder in the air.

I don't keep a lot of useless crap in it - just my drivers license, car insurance slip, bank card, credit card, health card and on a few rare occasions cash. Anything that goes in is carefully placed, not jammed in.

My wallet's usually outlast the chain their hooked to, buy leatherbound, they last longer, and I am very hard on mine. Had this one for over 5 years now, with a brand new one waiting for the day the second button gives way, so I can replace it.

I have two wallets on the go at the moment, a posh leather one I keep as a spare (or for when I'm feeling flashy) which I've had for three or four months, and my main wallet I've had for maybe five years, the wallet previous to that lasted three years before the zip and lining broke.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about "how long before you bought/subscribed every BF range possible"

And here I thought this thread was going to be about "how long before you bought/subscribed every BF range possible" Me too! The fact that it actually is about how long your wallet did last just shows how mind boggling Doctor Who forums can be! But to stay on topic, around five years for my current one. Although I do try not to open it much so it should be good for a few years yet!

I've had three wallets since I was 18. I'm 47 next week. The most recent one was an anniversary present from my wife on our 15th anniversary (coming up to our 24th in May). I don't keep coins in it or anything else that ruins the line of it.

Last wallet is 10 years old and is currently in a drawer. The only reason I swapped it was because I got the free one with DW Complete History - and that one is starting to show it's age already.
Cheers

I'm guessing men's wallets don't last as long as women's, cause men generally carry them in their pockets, where they get more wear and tear. Women usually have their wallets in a purse. So I asked my husband how long he's had his wallet and he said, "Years. At least 10 years." His problem is not his wallet wearing out so much as the pocket of his trousers in which he puts his wallet having a hole rubbed in it because of the wallet.
I've had the same wallet for at least 15 years, myself. It has a snap to hold it closed that broke, but otherwise it's still perfectly functional. I did try to find a replacement at a leather outlet a couple years back, the same place I bought this one. But they no longer have that style and size and I didn't like what they did have. So I guess I'm sticking with this one till it falls apart or until I find another one I like.

His problem is not his wallet wearing out so much as the pocket of his trousers in which he puts his wallet having a hole rubbed in it because of the wallet. I empty out my wallet every couple of weeks precisely for this reason: it prevents the wallet from bulging and stretching and it doesn't make some interesting wear and tear marks on my back pocket. As a person who spends a bit of time writing things on a whiteboard in front of a captive audience, I'm a little conscious of how I look from the back.
