I am surprised that there is no after show show. Lot's of reality/talent shows get additional content. Sky have an hour program after the latest Game of Thrones has aired and although the quality of that varies I could see something similar working for Doctor Who. that seems to work for the walking dead as well.

It's worth nothing that whereas "Torchwood" and "The Sarah Jane Adventures" were actual spinoffs - being extensions of things previously (if deliberately) set up in 'Doctor Who' - "Class" would have had no connection with the show at all if it hadn't been for a handful of elements in the first and last episodes. I think this was part of the problem (that and the awful way it was announced, and the failure to promote it, and the poor first episode, and the fact that it wasn't a very appealing idea in the first place, no matter how much it improved over the series). I really don't want to see a Paternoster series, but at least that would be developing something from 'Doctor Who' into its own thing.
That being said, I reckon they could combine elements of 'Sherlock' with Radio 4's 'The Rivals' (itself the latest iteration of a very old format) and have a new show (which Moffat and Gatiss wouldn't necessarily have to run themselves) updating a different Victorian detective each week, with Rupert Graves bumped up to the recurring viewpoint figure (in the same way that James Fleet does as Lestrade on the radio).

Id pop the "I've been the court of Kubali Khan..." speech after the Dalek's "eventually". You can imagine the zoom in on his face as that moustache twitches with a small smile and Murray Gold's "Don't Mess with Ian Chesterton" theme plays before the kids save the day. I've got an idea for the end actually. One of the children goes up to him and gives him a copy of The French Revolution. "Oh, yes..." "Look inside." Tucked neatly within the pages of the bulky tome was another history, carefully bound in felt with red-dyed edges. He traced his hand along the spine that read FIRST EDITION in gold leaf and gently prised open the cover. "The History of the Amaztecs," he whispered "By--" With all the care of this world and the next, he gently pulled it shut and held it against the steady beat of his chest. "Thank you."

I have no idea what the budget for Class was but it was wasted. Not because the show was bad or whatever, I've seen a few worse episodes of Who, but because it was misaligned at its target audience, stuck on a terrible slot and, generally, not believed in. That budget would have been better staying in the parent show and getting Ness to write for it.
Or if you just HAVE to waste that money? More (and better) animations please!

Ohh your rotten bugger, I've gone and teared up over that! thats a wonderful idea. if not the end of the series, at least the end of one story (the story where the mysterious Sir Ian gets fleshed out for the new viewers and we find out why he's so ready to beleive the kids when they talk about aliens etc). I know which kid Id have giving the gift too, the "Autistic" one, the one who has never seemingly built a connection with anyone else. They come out of their shell helping Ian come out of his again as well.

I'm pretty sure the budget for Class was taken out of the BBC3 budget for 2016 and would have had no effect on the budget of the parent show, a BBC1 production.

The budget would not have come from Who. As a BBC 3 production it will have received funding from BBC 3's budget.
