I'm still pissed that the person who borrowed my copy of Pratchett's Unadulterated Cat never returned it. That book had me in stitches. If I ever run into her, I'll be needing an alibi. Have you read Nanny Ogg's Cookbook? Lord Vetinari's recipe for "Bread and Water" was my favorite part.

The map of Death's domain was a nice find in a small book shop in Calgary about ten years back.

Just about to embark on a reread of the epic 6 books of the Duncton Saga. I haven't read them for many years so I am hoping they live up to my memories. The Duncton books and the Amtrak Wars series had me addicted years ago.

Decided to give Terry Pratchet a try... Pratchett is wonderful, but you haven't read his best stuff yet. His genius grows throughout the Discworld series to the point where he can make you laugh out loud then move you to tears on the same page. Hogfather, Jingo, and Night Watch are masterpieces. You've got a lot more to look forward to. Note: When you get to Soul Music, it's worth finding and watching the animated adaptation. The animated versions on the whole were not very good, but the adaptation of Soul Music stands apart by virtue of its visual and musical touches, as well as a few choice jokes from Pratchett that weren't in the novel. Plus Christopher Lee performs the voice of Death. As of today, I'm only half-way through Sourcery, but I can see him evolving even over the first four. I've had plenty of laugh out loud moments, and generally a good chuckle every few pages. No tears, I have to say. But I am definitely going to read all of them now that I've read the openers....already bought everything through to Small Gods (which I have somewhere).... "Plus Christopher Lee performs the voice of Death." Say no more...

Finished "Another Girl, Another Planet" today, a Benny New Adventure. Story was okay, not my favorite of the Benny books, though.

Read the Beast of Fang Rock yesterday, to date the best of the Lethbridge-Stewart books. One left to read in the first batch which I'll probably read at some point this week. I have the three due out this year on order.

In my desire to read more classic lit I started Germinal. I've been very bad with reading lately (preferring to watch TV on my commutes) so let's see how long this takes me.

I've read and re-read the original Shannara books many times over the years and have long felt they were far better than the more recent offerings in the series. That's not to say I haven't enjoyed all the Shannara books, just that I have found the stories in the first batch more engaging. Earlier this month I took time to re-read the First King of Shannara, another book that I still love after all these years. As for the TV series, I haven't had a chance to watch it, though a few friends have and they've told me it decent. Hard to get as bad as the horrendous job ABC did to Goodkind with Legend of the Seeker. Hope you are able to get through the book this time, it really is a lovely story.

Finished Genocide by Paul Leonard and now reading War of the Daleks by John Peel Which means you're right around the corner from Alien Bodies! You're in for a treat! "I'm sorry, I thought you were all timeless beings of unlimited evil, and I'd come here to defeat you."

"I'm sorry, I thought you were all timeless beings of unlimited evil, and I'd come here to defeat you." Yep im on to Alien Bodies next. Have been looking forward to it so much. I've heard nothing but great things about it. I found War of the Daleks not as bad as i was expecting. If it was adapted for whatever reason. Its mostly Parts 3 and 4, that would need to be changed and the Draconian and Mechonoid interludes would be cut.

I've been rereading my favourite book- Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I'm a bit embarrassed that I can quote entire pages but still laugh out loud when I read them, but then I remember the two geniuses who wrote it and focus on just enjoying the story.

I'm now 100 pages in Alien Bodies and already, its the best Doctor Who book i've read. shame there will never be an adaption It's filled to the brim with fascinating ideas (I love the concept behind the Shift), and is the best characterisation of Sam in the early EDAs. Miles is able to come up with a highly original (at least for a Who companion) concept for a companion in Sam. There's a returning monster that you would never expect, and they are far more deadly than their original TV appearance would lead you to believe. The Faction Paradox are the most interesting legacy the book leaves. In short, if you haven't read Alien Bodies get it and read it now. If you have read it, re-read it.

Currently reading Billy 2 Fifth Doctor story The Railway Of Time on Bradley's Basement, I'm up to chapter 7.
This is hands down one of the best Fifth Doctor stories I've read, Tim captures the Doctor, Nyssa brilliantly & keeps the story moving with great energy & pace.
Get this man to write for Big Finish he's a genius.
