Depending on how this one goes, I'd hope Freema could be persuaded next, or that BF create an original companion during the Specials year, Post 2005 Series 2 and 3 and 10, are still my go to New Series for pure enjoyment, so although i'd get them, more Rose before more Donna would be the preferable alternative.

I think this range, more than any other, is going to be the lead actor's choices all the way. If he wants a new companion...he'll get one, if he doesn't - no way will BF push it. But hey! "It's an hour after tea-time in 2006 all over again..." isn't a bad pitch for a while. There's still a lot of the novelty to use up! He's not even done on TV and I'm already salivating at the very thought of Capaldi doing BF in a few years....take ALL my money, BF! Right with you. My favorite next generation Doctor. Here is hoping the talk of just being done gets softened.

I'd be down for waiting a few years. I do believe in absence making the heart fonder - having something announced a week after he leaves? Might be too soon. Let me mourn him for a couple of years, and get to love Jodie first. Besides.....Matt's joining BF next year, no?

If the story from that con - that we only heard second hand - that he doesn't like monetising the role when the TV stories are free, it may be a moral stance that he won't want to back down from. Either way, we're years away from that happening even if Pedro is game. I don't think any of us would grudge the leads a year or three completely away from the show to pursue other things.

Well, I'll be waiting with baited breath for Matt too. I don't wish to seem entitled though - there's so much BF that is ALL over the spectrum these days. Truly something for everyone. I'd be fascinated how Matt's uber-physical performance translates to audio.

Well, according to Nick himself Matt wants to do it but just doesn’t have time yet.

Oh I would not be. Based his responses to some BF questions at a Wizard World I was at a couple of years ago I'm a little surprised we've not had anything from him yet. I think 11 joining the ranks isn't that far away and is really only a matter of schedules holding things up.

I do wonder whether Matt is like David, in the fact that he'd prefer to record with his companions (I know he's very friendly with Karen and Arthur, so this wouldn't surprise me), so I could see scheduling being an issue and being the thing holding up the Eleventh Doctor Adventures.

Yeah, both Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are quite busy actors. I could see there being more chance of BF getting Arthur Darvill on-board between the two.

I'd love to think so. Peter Capaldi at BF please ASAP - in an ideal Universe, Pearl and Matt would be available too. But my head says that with three busy actors it will take a long time before that happens. (I'd certainly like 12th Doctor Companion Chronicles too, which might be easier to arrange.) In the meantime there will be a wealth of other excellent BF to enjoy - and a new steelbook of Season 10...

Well, according to Nick himself Matt wants to do it but just doesn’t have time yet. Matt did some of the BBC audio readings so it's clearly a medium he's happy to work in....if the circumstances are right. I hope everyone comes back - every character has fans - but I wonder if we've been spoiled by the large percentage of classic series actors who are willing to do BF. The New-Who actors are much more in demand than most of them were when BF started. It's just never going to be as easy to get them to line up schedule wise - if they're willing to join BF's ranks at all. I'm sure Eccleston isn't the only actor who thinks you can never come home again....

And we're also taking it for granted here that BF will get the rights to the Capaldi era tout-suite when he's finished. I wouldn't take that to the bank - might be a wee while.

Right with you. My favorite next generation Doctor. Here is hoping the talk of just being done gets softened. Either way, we're years away from that happening even if Pedro is game. I don't think any of us would grudge the leads a year or three completely away from the show to pursue other things. On the other hand at another recent convention (the video is on youtube) when asked by the interviewer: ''Are you thinking about doing Big Finish one day?'' Capaldi clarified that he wasn't allowed to do them whilst he was still the Doctor on TV, the interviewer then asked (paraphrased-can't remember the exact wording) ''Yeah, but later on when the dust has settled a bit?'' Capaldi replied ''Sure!'' So it seems Capaldi would at least consider doing BF a few years down the line when he's had a break from the role, done other things and let Jodie establish her Doctor etc. It's a moot point for the immediate future anyway as BF don't currently have the rights to the 12th Doctor-in anycase they've barely got started with the 9th/10/11th Doctors so they probably aren't even thinking about it yet, plenty more stories to explore with all the other new Who characters.

I'm probably completely wrong but I swear I read on G.B that the Doctor Who rights is no longer split between Classic and New Who, rather a legacy license (covering all past Doctors from Classic/New Who) and the current TV Doctor, presumably when the 13th Doctor era starts the 12th Doctor would move to the legacy license and BF etc might be allowed to negotiate with the BBC for a new license/extension to cover this era when their current license comes up for renewal?

Yeah - and like I said when discussing the possibility he doesn't want to do them...it's all just chat. People change their minds, people want to give pleasing answers at conventions ("No, I'll never do BF" wouldn't be the most tactile response!) and circumstances change. It's happen or it won't to state the somewhat obvious. Some of the best BF announcements have been ones that weren't even rumoured much less expected - John Hurt's boxsets for one - so it's nice to not know for sure something will happen. Gives us the chance to be surprised which happens all too rarely nowadays

Could well be - but since we know certain elements like the use of Strax -that ostensibly should be just part of the Doc 11 era and therefore open to BF already- still had to be approved by BBC Wales and Moffat. I don't know the in's and out's but like I said above....I kinda like not knowing these things for sure. Makes developments more exciting when announced. That Saturday morning when BF just announced the Nu-Who licence was like Christmas and it hadn't been something speculated online beforehand. All the more exciting for it.

I presumed it wouldn’t be until the next licence extension at the earliest. Possibly worth noting that BF announced their Who license had been extended to 2016 in June 2013: www.bigfinish.com/news/v/doctor-who-audio-licence-renewedThis announcement makes no mention of the New Series Doctors (and Smith was still the current Doctor at the time) though the first New Series releases came out in 2015 before this had expired (presumably the scripts/discussions had been developing for quite some time beforehand), in March 2015 they announced the license had been extended to 2020: www.bigfinish.com/news/v/doctor-who-licenced-extended-to-2020And just over a year later they announced it had been extened to 2025: www.bigfinish.com/news/v/doctor-who-licence-extended-to-2025So it's not entirely clear when we would hear about the next license extension, not what exciting new things it might include...

Though I do remember my own reaction to the War Doctor announcement, it went something like:
