My initial reaction...honestly it looks a bit flat and impractical, the retro look is interesting but the suspenders? Looks like it was thrown together in a hurry...which to be fair might actually be an interesting hint at 13's character (though I'm glad they didn't over sexualise Jodie) exactly what a timelord with notoriously poor fashion sense might wear after millenia as a male. Not really a fan tbh, just seems a bit...odd...will wait to see her in action. Thrown together serves as a nice contrast to previous modern Doctors who apart from certain variants on their look all looked kind of designed. Suspenders isn't too odd a choice, Smith had braces after all. I'm not sold immediately but it seems an alright look have to wait and see it in action. The retro-TARDIS is a very interesting choice.

The coat and boots are alright, everything else looks awful to my eyes. None of the disparate elements fit together at all, which for all I know may be part of the point, but right now, just based on visuals alone and free of context, personally I don't like it at all. She looks like a cut price children's entertainer in that getup, and I don't get even the slightest hint of a Doctory vibe from it. You do realise you could have posted this in 1984 about Colin Baker and only had to change "she" to "he"?
I was definitely expecting something a bit more stylish but if anything that makes me more intrested in what she's going to be like.

To be honest the real outrage here are the changes to the TARDIS. Why is the sign now black with the handle on the wrong side?
Chibnall must go!!!!

I'm loving some of the Fb reaction. Some people seem to think if they keep saying they won't watch her the Beeb will fire Jodie and cast a man. Of course then the same people would moan that Series 11 would have to be held back till 2019....

It's a decent enough look, but I might need a little bit of time to worn to it...

Overall it's OK. Not so keen on what appears to be the tucked in look and the braces, but it's OK.
Have to wonder though, would a male Doctor's costume have got this much attention? I never realised fandom had so many would-be Trinny and Susannahs!

No, I couldn't, because I like Colin Baker's outfit, and always have. The only time that The Doctor have ever looked truly alien in terms of fashion sense.

And I wonder if people are so busy looking at the clothes they've missed something rather obvious - two earrings in her left ear, one very distinctive one right at the top of her ear. View AttachmentThe top earring is similar to a pattern worn by one of the communities here- a traditional one.I like her boots though..

For every "Oh, she looks like Mork" just change Mork to "a magician" and you've got the Capaldi reveal.

Yeah it’s just the sort of hyper focused attitude (and the fact that the production team is changing) that makes it seem like there’s a bigger reaction

Just like whoever gets cast in the role does, and whoever the companions are does. Fandom always has little solid information about the next Doctor and series at this point, and so every key reveal always gets interpreted, reinterpreted, loved, hated, debated to death, and drowned in assumptions, because there's rarely much else to go on or talk about at this stage. It's just how fandom goes.

Comments from Chibnall and Jodie were very conspicuous by their absence. When we got the Capaldi reveal, we also got the "No frills, no scarf, just 100% rebel Time Lord" quote to go with it. It seems rumours that Chibnall will be playing things a lot closer to the chest than RTD and Moffat might be true.

But the point reamains, every criticism I've seen about the outfit applys equally to his.

I don't like being negative about Doctor Who, but that new costume is awful. Eccentric Doctor costumes are nice, but this is too eccentric. It looks like something a Cbeebies presenter would wear. I much preferred Jodie Whittaker's reveal trailer costume; that was perfect.

I think most people yawned and ignored that. Yeah, but the braces are super important eh? And Rran thought enough to tell us it reminded her of something from her culture but hey - you just be narky. If you're yawning so much, you should maybe head to bed

And again, personally I would disagree with that assessment, but that's the wonderful thing about opinions, they aren't facts, and everyone is entitled to their own.

It seems rumours that Chibnall will be playing things a lot closer to the chest than RTD and Moffat might be true. Which is still the most unnerving aspect of this Era so far so many decisions that the general fan needs positive reinforcement of and so far there's no one like a RTD or Julie Gardner doing it.

At the first glance, I’ll admit I was appalled but then I thought why not ? Each time I look at her I find it getting better. A strange combination but I definitely liked her boots and earrings. Guess I’m getting used to her outfit now.
